Paramount Thor 3D Blu-ray (2011) [Region Free]

Thor 3D Blu-ray

Thor 3D Blu-ray Review

I believe this will be Paramount's first general release 3D Blu-ray, not including the Best Buy exclusive The Last Airbender.

Thank God. Thors 3D conversion was the best conversion I have ever seen. Majority of the movie was indistingishable from native 3D. There were a few moments it looked a tad flat but they were few and far inbetween. The movie was mostly pretty good. I felt it could have been better in some areas but as far as summer entairtainment goes it was definutely above average. Thor will be a great 3D Blu-Ray

The site had a listing of 9/21, but they changed it back to "no release date". That date sounds about right.

Not soon enough for me. A release date of yesterday sounds perfect. We don't go to the movies anymore, but Thor almost had us to do just that.

I hated the 3D job in the theater on this one. Thought it was the worst since Clash.

Wow...I guess I completely disagree with this. This will be another pass for me. I really thought this seemed flat, and when I dipped my glasses a few times, hardly anything was out of focus (meaning basically that it was 2D). Just my opinion.

I liked the movie, but felt the conversion was so lacking, I'm just going to go straight to 2D when I go see Captain America.

I'll try again for Green Lantern.

I love 3D but I'm getting this on Blu 2D. With this being the first Marvel movie in 3D I just don't see the point. I figure I have Iron Man 1 and 2, and the Hulk in 2D so that's what I'll do with the rest. I like the continuity.

sorry, couldn't help but smile. You can still see it in 2D.. thats what I like about this 3D, if people I know don't agree to see it in this technology, I can always just switch to 2D with the same disc.

Didn't see in theaters, but heard great things. Absolutely can't wait to grab in 3D, day of release. I just can't see paying the prices to go see a 3D movie in the theater, when you can own in at home for the same price or less then taking the family.

I agree. I thought the 3D on Thor was practically non existent most of the time. The movie was fun, but no way will I buy it.

Ended up going to Green Lantern against my better judgment. The 3D wasn't too bad. And where it was all computer, it looked great. I loved all the 3D space stuff. Especially at the opening, and ending. It looked awesome. And the movie itself, I liked a lot better than Thor as well.

I hope a US edition of this is released, and I hope that US edition has the 3D blu/blu combo instead of blu/dvd, but I was excited to hear about this:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/ironpack-o...ml#post4899451

It will match my growing Avengers set (Iron Man Helmet edition, War Machine [not really but that's what I call the silver/grey release] Helmet edition, and the Hulk Wall Smashing Edition (Target exclusive with the dvd swapped out for blu).

Come on, Target, or whoever. Bring this to the States. (In 3d)

Disagree...saw it in 3D IMAX and it was dreary and bore lille resemblance to how thrilling 3D can and should be. Walked out, got my $17 refund and paid $14.00 to see it in Real D 3D...the same experience for me.

Default I should have passed on the very bad 3D version

I had high hopes. I was so wrong. I'd take it back, but I don't want to crimp the future of 3D by doing so.

No more converted to 3D for me in the theater or to buy.

Well I thought Thor was phenomenal in 3D -- and so have my friends who've come over to watch it with me. For a conversion, it looked amazing on my equipment (passive LG 55LW5600).

I am looking forward to the sequel (Thor 2) in 2013 -- as well as The Avengers (it was teased in the end credits of Thor). Let's hope they'll both be filmed in 3D.

Default Thor 3D Bluray Review

I have to agree I am not much of a Marvel fan but being the 1st proper release from Paramount I was hoping for something nice, the main menu in 3D looks pretty good and shows stars flying out of the screen at you. Press play and the movie starts the Panasonic logo which flys out of the screen into your face and looks very nice however it did tend to have a slight jutter to it and if you look close you can see a few lines running through it which look slightly interlaced.

The actual movie starts and I have to admit is far far to dark once you have slipped on the 3D glasses this I found to be very annoying, take the glasses of and you are able to see alot more, the movie has a lot of dark parts through out so this can get slightly annoying, the 3D in the movie is pretty non exsistant through out and you will find yourselve taking of the glasses off on a few occasions and wondering if you are even watching a 3D movie at all. As with other 3D movies you can clearly see the depth and look into the back ground of the movie with crystal clear imagery, this is simply not the case with this movie and back grounds do look blurred. Dont expect any pop outs on this movie as its a pretty much fat zero on that front.

The movie itself is great and one I will be watching again but do you need the 3D bluray "Not really" the normal bluray would be good enough and better in the dark scenes. As we all know this movie was not shot in true 3D and was converted after.

3D = 3
Audio = 8
Movie = 8
