I am kind of in shock. There had to be more going on then cap considerations for the Flyers to trade away Richards and Carter. I did feel like it was only a matter of time for Carter to be traded but Richards came out of nowhere.

You'd have to think Philly will now be in play for Brad Richards on July 1st

Everybody knows that Richards was a big mouth and since he was the captain of Philly , you can see how much the organization trusted him .

I've never heard of any problems with Richards and his mouth and I follow hockey religiously. I think that is a typical response from a Montreal native in regards to a Flyer...lol

Not really as I have said the same thing. It was known there was a division between pronger side and Richards side. You don't just trade away your 26 year old captain unless there is something about him you dont like.

I realize this and even commented as much in my first post on the trades... I just find it funny that it's the Habs fans who are saying "it's well known" that Richards has a problem with his mouth when that is the first time I have ever heard about it.

I'm not saying there wasn't an issue in the room or not but how would Habs fans be the insiders over the rest of the hockey world? I've searched twitter, google and HFBoards and not one mention of this on either. Guess Montreal has past TO for center of the universe?....lol

Even if there were a rift, would you trade a quality 26 year old center to keep an aging and deteriorating Chris Pronger happy? I sure wouldn't.

It could also be something just as simple as Van Riemsdyk and Giroux have progressed faster and more then originally thought, plus they come in cheaper. This puts Philly in a strong position to go after B.Richards.

I believe the backlash that TNSE has received over any name but the Winnipeg Jets has caused them to abort the initial plan of a new name.

I'll bet money it's the Jets, but not sure about Winnipeg or Manitoba.

The last minute logo, colour and name change is the only thing that makes sense in terms of not having a Jersey for the draft...if that's in fact true.

It really is no skin off my back either way but as a long time NHL fan I would like to see the "Jets" back in play.

I hope they bring back the old name. Also, from a marketing standpoint it'll have a greater impact (at least locally in Winnipeg) with selling merchandise. Name association means a lot, especially one that was positive seeing as how many people miss hockey up there judging by how freakin' fast they sold the season tickets. I hope they succeed.

The rights to the name Jets, along with the entire Coyotes organization, is owned by the National Hockey League itself, but Bettman already stated that should True North decide to reuse that name—a choice that is supported by many hockey fans in Winnipeg—it would be available.

That`s really a dumb answer right there , the same way Richards left Philly , Kuivo left Montreal not being able to keep the dressing room as one or do you think that a organization dosen`t take everything in consideration ??? That " coming from a habs fan" , maybe you should read more , and if you are talking about the case PK , you are not very smart or informed , he got is ass hand over to the kid , and by the way Lapierre is 10 worst than PK , so this is no so called talk from a habs fan .

PS. if you know so much about Philly and MTL you should know which player from Philly is boo at the bell center .

You haven't helped your case. You cited montreal players. Well I live here and of course it's montreal canadiens 24/7. Multiple talk shows at night, radio shows throughout the day. Local media usually has the scoop on local teams.

Where's the insider information coming for a team out of country, heck out of division called the Philadelphia Flyers which seems unavailable anywhere else?

Why , do you listen only RDS ???? And by the way you know he is Canadian right . Do you remember the case MR boarding Tim Connolly ???? It was well spread on the news with the exception of the french canadian press , so i read more than what happens in MTL !

We'll do just fine. The beauty of things is, we didn't just sellout in 2 minutes. The cheapest seats in the house, around 3,000 - have a 3 yr commitment, the next 2 levels up have a 4 yr commitment, and the rest have a 5 yr lock in. The luxury suites have a 7 - 10 commitment.

So in Essensa, with only 1/5 of the seats having a 3 yr lock, the 4/5 of the building is sold out for 4 yrs, with the majority of seats and suites locked in fro 5-7.

Add the richest owner in professional sports, and you've got the best foundation possible in a market of just under 800,000 people.

We'll generate more revenue than Columbus and Phoenix combined, and aren't looking for any handouts.

And what’s up with those stupid comments about Habs fans not knowing shit because it’s about the Flyers? If you don’t know by now that Mike Richards is a douchebag, you don’t watch Hockey much. He’s a freaking good player, but what a stupid one! Silversnake probably knows more about Hockey than all of us combined, if you question his knowledge just because it’s about the Flyers, you are really stupid.

If you want to know something about the NHL, just watch Bob McKenzie on TSN and follow him on Twitter. It will be better than calling Habs fans biased.
