There's really nothing to screw up. Putting a digital movie onto digital disc ain't rocket science and Fox is perfectly capable of doing so.

From what I know, ToL was shot with a mixture of cameras - 35mm and 4K digital cameras.

Sorry, but I don't understand what do you exactly want. This is a brand new film and the Blu-ray will be sourced from a brand new (and the only available?) master, which of course was approved by Lubezki and Malick.

And the press release says: The Blu-ray Disc presentation utilizes maximum bit rate encoding and 7.1 audio and a 2.0 stereo mix to bring Malick’s visually stunning masterpiece to life providing consumers with a premium cinematic viewing experience for the home

It looks like you can buy it now at amazon, no?

I wanted to get this without seeing it, but for $30 that seems pretty risky.

I was gonna pick this up in store, but just tried ordering on Amazon and it also gives me a Sept. 14 - 16 shipping estimate. Very strange.

I dare not hope. Still, that would be just phenomenal.

The film is brilliant without any "aid" IMO.

Love the cover. Is that a slip or a digibook?

Either way, I am in.
I did enjoy the film without any 'help,' which is why I saw it again. Though I thought this is the kind of movie which is even better with 'help' and it was. The 'profound' conversations we had were 3 hours after we had smoked, so the effects had certainly worn off. We still talk about the movie, my friend and I.

I'm really hoping the price will drop soon, it usually drops right before release. But now it obviously ships long before October 4.

Amazon just contacted me and changed my expected delivery date to 11 October. It was 14-16 September. I contacted them and requested $10 credit. After some conversation, they issue it to me.

I didn't understand the reason for the credit request...

Ugh, the wait for this is so painful since it was never shown in my city. If The New World is my favorite Malick film, should I expect to be blown away by this?
