On the $130 Million thing, I'm sure this has been pointed out, but no studio...and I mean no studio is going to make that amount of turnover in the next 18 months on HD, let alone straight profit, (possible unpopular view coming) but the duel format business model is the correct one at the moment, Warner are making massive gains on this strategy and single format release whilst allowing software to potentially drive hardware sales, its a long term model IMHO unless one of the formats folds (not likely to happen till Q4 2008 at the earliest IMHO)

I spoke to a very high ranking BVHE European person at a dinner a few weeks back and he was pretty condemning of Paramount for taking the cash, I don't agree, irrespective of which side of the fence they fell, the cash was way too tempting to not be taken seriously by Paramount.

Both Toshiba and the BD group are banging on studio doors way louder than they where 6 months ago, both groups trying to sign another big name on the line, I'm sure another one will fall at some point pretty soon, Warner's look vulnerable (politically not fiscally) I would want to second guess they way they will go...but they will, not in Q4 2007 but I think CES 2008 in Jan will be when the seats will start to be moved.

FWIW, my first HD title is not out to July 2008 and the format is still TBC although due to the demographic customer profile for our company I think it will be BD

Must admit I had a look in there today (is it me or is the site really slow?) and I found the HD movies site really biased.

I think the guy who's just joined here (walk the line?) went about it the wrong way though, just confront it directly and ask why you cannot post and say Blu ray is winning.

Why is this thread still running though LoL? I notice some of you guys have been binned but not all - is it a competition?

I go there mainly for the projectors forums, so I'll be a coward and not state my AVF username!!

Not that i approve of this type of thing, but it appears transformers on HDDVD is already ripped and up for download. I mean dang that was quick, thats gotta hurt.

Seems people are getting mighty paranoid on AVF these days.

I suspect some of the 'new' members we have seen in the last few days is him returning to the board with yet more registrations.

Well for the AVF mods.... I have 10 active registrations on AVF, most sleeper accounts totting up post counts in other sections before I move them onto the HD forum inorder to get the Blu message across, infact I'm a paid member of the BDA employed as part of Project Hydra to discredit HD-DVD and push p pro BD agenda. I get paid lots of money to do this while all the time playing Batman Begins and The Matrix on my HD-XA2.

I would bother to do a full reply as to why AVForums is in no way biased towards HD-DVD, but the ones asking the question are just trolls who do not deserve to be answered. Despite most of them being banned and slagging off the forums elsewhere, it makes you laugh that they keep re-registering to post on a forum which they can't stand.

the hd-dvd camp has'nt really put a foot wrong since the day it was standardised.

Admittedly a noteable Blu-ray fan was banned in recent weeks - but to be fair that was one (maybe two) person with five or six logins.

In all the threads on this topic that were closed by the mods yesterday, I made this clear, but still some persist in perpetuating the myth that there is some connection between the ban on Nielsen discussion and this week's figures.

There was a Nielson thread, but in it, and another thread, there was specific sales information for Transformers on HD-DVD.

This directly contradicted the Paramount press release, which inspired the original 6 page Transformers sales thread.

If there was that much interest in Paramounts 190k figure, with MUCH read into this about HD-DVD's viability as a format, surely those same people would also be interested in the real, much lower sales figures, maybe asking why Paramount felt the need for the original press release and other related questions.

I can't understand why so many Blu-ray owners are being portrayed as trouble makers when all they want to do is counter Paramount PR spin with actual, recorded sales data.

I think the simple truth is that the mod's have lost control and dont know how to moderate the forum any more. Neither of the last two posts in today's thread actually give any straight answers to a simple question. I suppose from their perspective its easier to pander to those that moan loudest and longest (Pecker et al).

I sympathise that they do it for free but at the end of the day a moderators job is to moderate and to do that effectively you have to be consistent.

I was Tony Stark on AVForums. I was originally Monkeyspoon but I got banned when I said that Forza 2 on the X360 is crap and that Gran Tourismo and PGR are so much better. They saw it as a direct insult to MS and banned me. I swear Avforums is part owned by MS. The are so biased towards them on both the game and movie front.
