We wait until the mods merge the moved thread some overenthusiastic fan originally posted in the Blu-ray Movies board.
This one, however, is long enough to serve as the Mother Thread in the meantime.

I just want Disney to throw their millions at the god damn TV show already! I've been waiting so long for it.

Of course they are going to cash in. They would be crazy not to. As proof of Phantom Menace, they could make a sub par to bad Star Wars movie and still make a killing. And now, in a world where they can film this in 3D and have an Avengers like box office run, whether we like it or not they would be silly not to expand on the SW universe.

Not much, I hope. He's had more than enough say in the last 13 years, and judging by what happened I doubt anyone ever questioned him once.

But an article I read said he'd still be a Creative Consultant on the new movie(s), but he no longer has that dictatorial control, which I think can only benefit the franchise.

Meh... Star Wars has been dead to me personally since about 10 minutes into the The Phantom Menace, so whatever. Not saying I wouldn't go see another SW movie, but they're reeeeeeeaaaaaaally going to have to hit it out of the park and halfway to the moon before the bad taste can even begin to kinda-sorta wash away.

Don't mind him: he's still bitter over Ratner's job on X-Men: The Last Stand.

Personally, I think of them as crime movies, not comic book movies. They just happen to include a few comic book characters. They were great, though, whatever you want to call them.

The Avengers was a comic book movie in every sense of the word; and a great one.

You know, if I had to wager what Disney would have done first: Finish releasing the seasons for Duck tales, Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Talespin, Gargoyles, The Muppets Show, etc.. or buy LucasFilms, I would have lost my entire life's savings.

[Show spoiler]F U Disney, finish those damn season releases

I think ILM was part of the purchase...they can look however the flimmakers want them to look!

Have you seen Carrie Fisher lately?

or Mark Hamill?

or Harrison Ford for that matter?

I'm sorry but, these are not the actors you are looking for
You beat me to it.

Let's see....... Mark Hamill is 60.
Harrison Ford is 70.
Carrie Fisher is 55.
George Lucas is 68.

so, in another 15 years (by the time Star Wars 9 would come out)
The original cast would be in their 70s & 80's ........

Star Wars 9: A New Depends
or
Star Wars 9: Alzheimer's Strikes Back

Would we get to see a lightsaber cane?

I don't quite understand how this could be terrible news. If you don't want another Star Wars movie, just don't see it.

I thought The Fast and the Furious was one of the worst movies I have ever seen, but when they announce a new one I don't say "Ugh, terrible news". I ignore it.
