I love the art direction of the game. It reminds of that clean, sleek Halo 1 futuristic sheen that the series steered away from in the sequels. Part of why Halo 1 and Reach were my favorites. I also enjoy co-op over competition, so I'm psyched for this.

There will be competition based gameplay as well if you're into that.

I still cannot believe this game will not require a subscription. How is this any different from the MMO's that are subscription based? How will Bungie maintain servers with no incoming funding beyond that of the initial game sales? They must be planning a shit ton of micro transactions

Micro transactions would definitely be a part of that, but also expansions (like for GW2). In that light the 10 year partnership with Sony would make sense, with Betas and releases prefering possibly the PS4?

Yeah, and don't get me wrong. I'm not criticizing Bungie for not making Destiny subscription based. I'm actually praising them for it! I still believe that subscription based gaming on consoles doesn't work and I think Bethesda will quickly discover that with ESO.

Not sure if it's been stated yet but do you need PS+ to play this game? I know free online games like DCU don't need it and Destiny is online only but is it the same as DCU or do I need PS+.

You'll need PS+. Only free to play games get an exception, and Destiny is not free to play.

Pretty sure you do. I believe only F2P games and games with monthly subscription fees aren't behind the Plus paywall.

you also have the choice to play alone.

Sadly you still have to be connected to the internet though.

Still, there's no real reason not to own PS+ in this day and age.

Let's see when it gets closer... This would be the first game on the box that would need to say "Requires Playstation Plus".

So far it's only been the online MP component of an offline/online game has been behind the paywall. This would be the first game that would require a payment of $60 game + $50 PS+ (if you don't have it) just to boot up.

Since we're still a ways out there is no way to know if this will hold up or if Sony makes an exception that you don't need plus for it (plus we have no idea if it will have MTs past the first $60 outlay...)

Well you need PS Plus to play any MP type game, but I understand what you are saying as this is MP only, for all purposes.

Are you not going to MP on any other title? If not, wait on the price

It might just say Online Multiplayer Only like FF XIV.

They could also offer a free PS+ trial in the box so people could try it if they don't have PS+

Saw an advert on TV last night (UK) and Destiny was shown with a release date of 9 September. Is this the actual release date

If so I must have missed when that was officially announced!
