That's the business model they've chosen. They feel they make more money at a higher price point, though they obviously sell less units than a Sentai or FUNi release. It's a demand and supply thing.
What you get are Blu-rays on par with Japanese releases. No other American anime company comes even close. If you don't want to pay their prices, I believe you can stream all of their titles legally. |

For instance, I just bought both the US release of Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet during the 12 Days sale for $35, yet a couple weeks later I also bought the three JP Blu-ray Box sets of Gargantia at almost ten times the price, for $300 total... If Aniplex were to have the title and import it over here themselves, it would look pretty much the same as the JP release... And it's not just the packaging; the PQ and AQ on the Japanese discs are usually a good bit better... So it's This.... ![]() Vs. This... ![]() ![]() Last edited by Girls With Guns; 01-03-2015 at 02:05 PM. |

Because they are retarded. And because people still buy their products regardless because they are retarded too. I would have bought Kill la Kill and Madoka had it not been for their dumb prices and need to only make 2-4 episodes on a disc. This is America, not Japan. If I Want to pay Japanese prices for Japanese content, I'll buy from Japan. I'll just stick to my free fansubs until they release a full box set for a normal price.

That's cool, bra. I'm fine with Aniplex releases like Valvrave. The box is thin but it looks great and the discs are... decent. I guess Valvrave is a poor example, due to what I believe is sh*t source material

I'm not a Valvrave fan, so not familiar with that Aniplex release... I would like to have a few more Aniplex releases, was really hoping Fate/Zero would have made it in the 12 Days sale like Blue Exorcist did... I did grab all three Blue Exorcist box sets, and the Blast of Tempest DVD sets from Aniplex during the sale, and would gotten both F/Z Parts as well... RS only put the Japanese Part 1 of Fate/Zero on sale, and that was useless since Part 2 is sold out.

![]() If you have the funds, I would suggest a region free player. You would cut the cost of the SAO sets pretty much in half. |

But... But pretty...
That's also from right stuf. They have the releases for around 60 and below used. If they're in mint condition I'd be fine with doing that. Even then, I am still tempted. There's some stuff that makes me scratch my head in SAO but I still REALLY enjoy it. |

Yeah, I collect a LOT of used video games, so it makes it pretty difficult to really build up a good collection. Even a mint case doesn't mean the disks/ art cards will be mint.
