That's the reason the whole Expendables concept was flawed from the word go. it's not possible to give each actor enough screen time for them to make a serious impact. Nobody seems to care either because, if we are honest with ourselves, Expendables is a giant marketing gimmick that preys on our nostalgic affection for these old action heroes. That's all it is.

Making great films was never the intention.

As for getting Jack or Clint, I was surprised they even got Ford.

Someone's decided to "fix" the no-blood problem in EX3. I don't care if fan edits are shunned upon. These edits give us the chance to watch the movies either the way or closer to the way we wanna see them.

The best description I heard of those films is that they are like trying to play with all of your action figures all at once.

It is better looking but yeah there is plenty of other things that they got wrong with this sequel.

If they would have focused on the original expendables instead of the bland newbies, whose acting made me cringe, that would have solved a lot.

They'll never get Eastwood. I heard Nicholson is basically retired due to health issues. Ford is willing to do supporting roles for paychecks now.

How does that change what I said? He still likes to star in movies, but he's not above taking a quick paycheck (Anchorman 2, Expendables 3). Just don't expect him to headline any small movies. He supposedly turned down Traffic because he could get more money making another movie.

I think in an interview Sly said something about dialing down the cast (as ell as a hard R rating). So like I said, if it was Sly, Arnold, and 1 or 2 other good "action guys" (Be it Statham, Lungdren, Li, or Crews) vs. 2 or 3 bad guys who get ample enough screen time, I'm down. Since Russell and Seagal are never happening, my money's on Michael Douglas. Yes that's right. He's got action movie credentials (Black Rain) and I think he'd be down for it. He doesn't have to anything physical, of course. He's just the brains of the operation, sitting behind a desk giving orders and firing a pistol to kill someone every so often. his "muscle"/right and left hand goons? Vinnie Jones (Bullet Tooth Tony from Snatch) and either Michael Jai White or Brian Thompson (Night Slasher from Cobra).

Edit, get Gary Busey in there as a villain to. But only if he plays it straight. No goofy/self aware humor ala Chuck Norris saying the Chuck Norris facts.

Michael Dogulas is goat tier. If he deigned to be in this, I would literally be very happy. Especially if they went back to being a hard R. Then I can imagine this film being the second one in the series (after the first) to be in my collection.

Going by the past I wouldn't believe Sly just yet. He may be saying hard R and set in China but he is just saying what the fans want to hear after how bad EX3 was at the BO and critically. He is just hyping it up like EX3 when he said Jackie Chan was certain and Nicolas Cage would appear in it and he was never asked. I'll believe it when I see it.

The next movie should not have bad guys with endless henchmen who fire blanks. Get some action guys who can perform their own stunts (Michael Jai White? Marc Dacascos? The return of Jean-Claude Van Damme?) and have actual battles this time instead of two minute fights Stallone wins every time. Hell, he lost to Stone Cold in the first movie!

Arnie recently had lunch with one of the Expendables producers and The Arnold Fans just posted that Expendables 4 shoots on November. Not sure how legitimate it really is. The most interesting thing that has been floating about for the past few months is Sly has been saying him Arnie and Jackie Chan are going to do a project together. Will this be it? We will soon find out.

Interesting. I figured Stallone was going to shoot Rambo: Last Blood next. Either way I welcome which ever film comes first.

As long as Arnold has the same size role as he did in the second, I will be thrilled.
