Never seen Dominion or Exorcist 2. Exorcist 3 is pretty damn eerie though.

Is the set worth getting? I've heard terrible things about Exorcist 2.

I personally, really like Exorcist II, my favorite after the original - but I know it is probably the least well received in the series. Overall, I think they are all reasonably good films. Worth it in my opinion, but may be harder to say if you haven't seen them all yourself.

I've only seen the original, part III, and Renny Harlin's film. The latter is kinda meh, but they each have their scary moments.

For the right price, I suppose I'd get it.

If you don't already have the first film, $25 for this set is a no-brainer. I have the first film on blu-ray, and while the other films pale in comparison, I still think this set is worth the price.

I tried watching Exorcist III the other night and it just bored me. That being said I still can't call it a bad movie. It has it's moments but it's just not for me.

I love Exorcist 3.

Exorcist 2 is a mater of opinion, it's an interesting film when you think about the ideas and concepts presented in the film, but it's nothing like the first or 3rd film.

Dominion is a more slow paced and subtle film like 1 and 3, but a bit too slow and subtle at times, Thematically Dominion is a very good movie, the pace is like an older film, and in a sense that's fitting considering it takes place a few decades before the first movie, and the although the Movie uses some CGI, it's not over the top, it was done in a more old fashioned manner.

but there are little things in the movie, like touching a rock and it obviously being foam, stuff like that would have been fixed digitally if the movie had gotten a Standard Post Production.

The Manifestation of the Demon is very different, and is actually intriguing conceptually and thematically, but not enough time really focused on that part, the Demon looks very different, but it shows it's ugly pale white face a time or 2. the Demon is not Vulgar at all, it doesn't use profanity.

but the circumstances and setting are also different, so the tactics are different, in this movie, Father Merrin is someone that could be tempted, but obviously that changes during by the End, so by the time of the original movie, there is no playing nice with Merrin, he is Faith is strong enough to fight the Demon, but his physical health is not.

I think the Demon should have turned ugly and go on a rampage during the Exorcism, that's where some reshoots, or additional filming should have been done too beef it up. but thematically it's still works.

it's really just matter of opinion, and depends on what your seeking from an exorcist movie, and how you define an exorcist movie.

Sorry to change the subject but can someone explain what is so special about the Exorcist that makes it such a classic? I saw this when I was 14 and thought it was boring and didn't find it scary at all. The Omen on the other hand I thought was creepy and very entertaining with a great soundtrack and death scenes. I mean what is so special about a movie involving demonic possessions? I fail to understand why this film gets so much praise.

For real, E2 is down right shameful. I'll watch it anyway though when my set comes in.

I've watched the first 3 films more times then I can remember, and have owned (and still do in some cases) several dvds of them. With that said, I've only watched The beginning once and it disappointed me greatly, more so than The Heretic, however that was when the film first arrived on DVD. I've yet to see Dominion, so I'm looking forward to these 2 films the most to see if I enjoy them more now. I'm almost certain I will as my appreciation for film in general has increased dramatically since that time.

I know I'm the "dissenting opinion" here, but I love this film. Owning the original digibook already, this is the only film I'm really buying the set for, other than for the sake of completeness. I like owning complete series. Though I enjoy them all, Boorman is a favorite director of mine, and Morricone one of my favorite composers. As well, I feel this film has a very appealing cast. The story can be a bit out there, but I appreciate the fact that it marches to a different drum, in a sense.
