I'll hang on to my Bond 50 set, I'm more than happy with the content but I wished it had come in less unwieldy packaging. I'm not bothered about packaging until it doesn't fit on my shelves. I don't have to inclination or space to "display" novelty sets.

Why would we want to antagonize a valued member of our Blu-ray.com community? Perhaps you could his and other member's suggestions on-board? The watermarked .jpegs aren't doing anyone any favours. You could post them smaller and we'd still know what they are.

You're not just pissing him off, you're pissing everyone else on this thread off. It was fine when you posted that one VHS cover to give us all an idea of what you were talking about, what was the purpose of posting the entire series in two different styles no less? At least use spoiler tags, for people reading these threads on their phones for example, it creates a bunch of problems loading. Just a simple request that you have ignored. It's not too late to go back and spoiler them still.

I'm done with buying Bond... unless MGM manage to reissue Goldeneye without DNR or restore the old BBFC cuts to any affected film (incredibly unlikely at this juncture).

Is the only difference between these two sets the packaging and the book? If so, $70 price difference seems excessive....

The cheaper one might not have UV copies.

I couldn't resist showing the whole set-both styles, to you guys. They're adorable! I'm sorry if I caused you so much distress!

There's not really a really a great deal more I can add to this thread, other than the fact I think the new packaging sucks, just like the current ones do. I know I've already said this, in so many words.

You may be right. According to this site's listing, the cheaper version also includes digital copies, but maybe it's a misprint.

Also, odd that the cheaper version is listed on Amazon Canada and UK, but not US...

Are you sure the cheaper one isn't just a mislabeled DVD edition? That would explain the cheaper price, and that is the artwork used for the DVD collection internationally too. I mean, I can't imagine there being a $100 difference in list price and the only difference being the lack of the book and potentially digital copies too.

Maybe. The UK listing though clearly notes Blu Ray on the side of the packaging:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-J...lu-ray/136390/

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-J...lu-ray/136390/

Who knows. Will likely become clearer as the release date approaches....

The UK also has one for DVD too with identical artwork. Guess we'll see as you say

Agreed. I already have the Bond 50 set, so in no rush for this one. I'd like to have the book and the digital copies, but it's not a $200+ kind of "like"...

Default Best Bond Movies Worth Owning

I am a big James Bond fan. I recently watched all the movies. However, I do not own the exclusive 50 Year Set and I am not too interested in the new one. I am, however interested in the Steelbooks. To me, the movies worth owning and the ones that are the best are:

1. From Russia With Love - (I just pre-ordered the Steelbook on Best-Buy)
2. Goldfinger - (I just ordered the UK Steelbook)
3. Thunderball - (I just pre-ordered the Steelbook on Best-Buy)
4. On Her Majesty's Secret Service - (I just pre-ordered the Steelbook on Best-Buy)
5. The Spy Who Loved Me - I have the 2012 Cover version
6. Moonraker - I just ordered the 2012 Cover version
7. For Your Eyes Only - (I just pre-ordered the Steelbook on Best-Buy)
8. The Living Daylights - I just ordered the 2012 Cover version
9. License to Kill - I just ordered the 2012 Cover version
10. GoldenEye - I have the 2012 Cover version. Hopefully they can do a remaster on that one. Also thinking about getting the UK Steelbook but I am not too excited about the cover art.
11. Casino Royale - (I just pre-ordered the Steelbook on Best-Buy)
12. Quantum of Solace - (I just pre-ordered the Steelbook on Best-Buy)
13. Skyfall - (I just pre-ordered the Steelbook on Best-Buy)
14. Spectre -

Anyway, I am happy with my editions. Just because they made some James Bonds, it doesn't mean that they were all good. Some of them were terrible, campy and dumb.

In my collection I have 4 Daniel Craig movies, 3 Sean Connery's (his best), 3 Roger Moore's (his best), 2 Timothy Dalton's (really impressed with him - he was ahead of his time) and 1 each for Brosnan and Lazenby.

Anyway, what do you guys think? Is this the definitive list?

Dr. No was also good but somehow it wasn't fully developed. The latter Connery's were a let down. Roger Moore was only good in those three (I feel). And Brosnan was great in GoldenEye but they had a great director there. I can't believe they let those other directors direct the others ones. Just terrible. That's why I skipped them also.

:-)

They've put the cheaper version up on US Amazon now:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-J...lu-ray/136828/

http://www.amazon.com/The-James-Bond...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Really curious what the difference is because it's a huge price difference.

Also, they have the Dalton collection now too: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/007-T...lu-ray/136782/
