I think I am leaning towards the 4k slip (non-steel). I think the embossing will look great with the whole fam on the cover!

I buy all the films that come out now on 4K because I eventually will get a 4K TV but no way am I upgrading my movies I already have.

I am a bit more worried now that it's officially announced. All I saw was "Immersive Audio" and my mind immediately thought that Disney has "re-mastered" the audio and now will be anemic.

I hope that's not the case, but given the trend, I'm not going to expect anything less. I hope they include the original track from the blu-ray as an option (again, unlikely).

That's exactly what I'm worried about, especially since the BD mix is already so good.

The provisional covert art for the Australian 4K release indicates three discs.

In regards to the steelbook I would gather since there are three discs it is the 4K disc plus the two blu's, I would assume the standard 4K non steel will be the same too

This will absolutely be a day one purchase for me. I'm concerned about the age of the animation. I recently watched this on blu-ray and was reminded of how far animation has come since 2004. Maybe the HDR and Dolby Atmos will be impressive enough to warrant other catalogue films such as Toy Story and especially hand drawn classics a release very soon. Maybe this is the first in a new trend. One can dream. I imagine at the very least, we may get classic Dumbo, Aladdin, and The Lion King next year to coincide with those live-action remakes.

While I am excited about this release, I will wait for a review and screenshot comparisons between the previous Blu-ray and 4k Blu-ray. Curious to see how much better the 4k Blu-ray will be.

Doesn't really matter to me what the visuals are compared to the Blu-Ray since I've never owned a Blu-ray copy for this. Only a DVD wayyyyy back in 2005 when I was just a child lol.

Screenshots won't do the HDR justice - and that's where most of the improvement will be. Not in detail per se.
Cars 3 is much better in HDR and there's a lot more 3D-like depth to the image in 4K, but the screenshots don't do it justice.
