Halloween 4K UHD (1978)

I remember The Shining and 2001 coming out at the same time on blu ray in the early days.... hoping that trend continues this year

The first one is as much a classic and important as Halloween imo.

First day purchase if Warner’s does a 4K box set of the Nightmare films. Too bad Wes Craven isn’t with us anymore to give us an extended alternate cut of the first film. Maybe Robert could get involved and get something cool done for the diehards ya know?

Dunno if a extended alternative cut, but I want the uncut version of the first one and the fifth one. Also, they should include all the deleted scenes of all movies. But that ain't happening.

I agree Halloween is the benchmark, but imo ANOES has the same iconic stature and influence on the genre. It is such a massive franchise in terms of fans and merchandising I’m totally shocked how WB don’t care about it. When you see a 12th reissue of something like Gladiator (yes neither horror or WB, you get my drift tho). Elm St is just shoved out once without care

Elm St and Halloween are both pretty equal to me. With Halloween just getting the edge in class. They are both neck and neck in stature though for sure imo.

If WB does The Exorcist I really, really want them to restore the original unaltered theatrical cut and include the original mono mix.

It probably won't happen but I can dream can't I.

Also if WB do The Shining they need to include both cuts. Maybe also include the open matte versions of both cuts in HD as extras.

No. It never projected open matte, and it wasn't composed open matte. If you want open matte for The Shining, then why don't you want open matte versions for EVERY movie that was presented that way on VHS and DVD, since it would be the same thing? Did you want T2 open matte also? Probably not, I doubt you even mentioned it, but it was open matte on video also, and "director" approved.

If TVs weren't square at the time, Kubrick would never have wanted an open matte version of his widescreen film presented that way, period.

This silly line of thinking really needs to die.

There are few movies that should be presented in Open Mate, and those are the ones that were meant to be like that. Like Wizard of Oz, or maybe Evil Dead.
