While I do think these streaming shows are important to the MCU, I won't go as far to say they are necessary. If I were you, since you didn't seem to enjoy the other 2, wait for this to end and check the reviews. See what people say about the Loki character and if you like what you hear, catch the show. Your distaste for streaming is something I won't agree, nor argue about. Hopefully you find a way lol

People who complain about streaming didn't grow up watching a console TV with an antenna.

It is kind of weird how people decide where to draw the line on technology. I am sure there are people who still want a huge floor model tv like this.

If this is what you want fine, yet to think because you do not like streaming it should not exist is strange. Yet this is what some think is okay.

As someone who gave up on Physical media, I had my "DVD only" phase, then HD-DVD, Blu-Ray, Steelbook etc phases...I'm not going to judge. But I'll never tell someone they can't watch or enjoy something because it's not on the format they prefer. It's like getting mad at a movie for going streaming when all they watch is movies in a theater.

I think that's wildly inconvenient, but you do you.

[Show spoiler]I don't think it's Hiddleston if that's what you're asking. I don't think it's anyone we already know either, but that's just me spitballing

Am I being misunderstood or am I the one misunderstanding, or is everything great? I can't tell.

Fair enough. I won’t go down the rabbit hole of streaming vs physical or streaming vs premium cable/regular tv.

But I do think these Marvel shows are really diluting the brand. I’m definitely excited about a future Captain America movie with Sam, but the streaming series just felt like a low budget prologue for it.

Loki does look fun, but the character already completed a very well crafted redemption arc in the movies. This just feels like a desperation move to get fans to pay for DisneyFlix.

To me, it's just an extension of the Marvel One-Shots on the old DVDs. They're important because they exist, but there's a chance all we need to know from these are "Wanda is a witch", "Sam is Captain America", and "Multiverse".

Could be important to people, or not.

I just like them because they're good.

Just an opinion

Don't waste your breath/fingers bantering with steamers..
Its not even worth a discussion really, streaming is the inferior version of whatever you are watching both in sound and vision (this is a bluray/quality forum isn't it? Cant believe I have to relate this here).....My streaming solution...its faster than streaming and full quality:

All the shows and movies I like in full quality ripped from Bluray/4K on a 48 tb hard drive array...instant access to pure quality.

And yes....all the Marvel stuff is there which I really enjoyed until Loki ripped off Umbrella Academy....I can forgive Wanda for being just another dumb witch.

‘Loki’ is the Perfect Opportunity to Finally Erase ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ - Decider 6/10/21

Quote:
Disney+’s new Marvel series Loki is many things: a comedy, a drama, a time-twisting buddy cop show. But it’s also a major opportunity for Marvel Studios. With the introduction of the Time Variance Authority, Loki is the perfect chance to finally erase Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a thing every Marvel fan is, of course, in favor of.

First though, if you haven’t seen the premiere of Loki, a few pieces of key information. In the hour, we find Loki (Tom Hiddleston) taken prisoner by the TVA, who maintains the “sacred timeline.” Part of the way they do this is by jumping into parts of the timeline that are beginning to branch off from the version of history approved by the all-powerful Time Keepers, and wipe that branch from existence.

Then, there’s the real world recap you might need to know. Time was, there were two divisions of Marvel: Marvel TV, and Marvel Studios. Marvel Studios is responsible for the movies you know and love, as well as the current crop of Disney+ TV shows (WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and now Loki). Marvel TV kicked off with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and continued with the Netflix series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Punisher, another one, and also The Defenders. Marvel TV produced more shows beyond that, but over time a divide grew as these Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) TV shows seemed to be less and less connected to the movie universe.

So what if those TV shows turned out to be a branching timeline, one that could be wiped out by the TVA on Loki so that they never existed. Wouldn’t that be great? Doesn’t that spark joy?

In fact, other than a few references here and there, including Peggy Carter’s (Hayley Atwell) butler making the jump from Agent Carter to Avengers: Endgame, the new Marvel Studios streaming series almost seem to be going out of their way to not connect to Marvel TV’s prior series. The most glaring example was the introduction of The Darkhold, a mystical book that showed up in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and then on Hulu’s Runaways, then in an entirely unconnected way on WandaVision with a completely different look and purpose.

And then on Loki‘s premiere, as the main character is being walked through a sci-fi version of This is Your Life by Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson), there was another weird snub by omission: the resurrection of Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). Loki killed Coulson in The Avengers, then in this version of events got captured by the TVA, and mere hours later is being walked through the version of events we saw him live through in the MCU, from Thor: The Dark World, to Thor: Ragnarok, to eventually dying in Avengers: Infinity War.

However, Phil Coulson was almost immediately resurrected on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s possible that Mobius omitted this information because letting Loki off the hook doesn’t win him over to their investigation of another version of Loki. But given Mobius is showing Loki the “true” version of events, is it possible that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. takes place in another branch of the timeline? That perhaps Coulson was never supposed to be resurrected — they certainly messed around with time a lot on AoS — and the TVA erased them? That would be so extremely cool, right?

It’s not like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was on TV for 136 episodes, or has legions of devoted fans. So nobody would be upset with an off-hand reference from Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) about a “Variant Coulson” they had to erase, along with his friends “Melinda May, Daisy Johnson, and hashtag Fitzsimmons.” Nobody would be in complete, physical agony if Marvel Studios wiped the slate clean of all the prior Marvel TV shows, from Cloak & Dagger to Inhumans (okay maybe nobody would actually be upset about the latter) with this handy plot device introduced on Loki. It would be universally praised, and beloved!

…and okay, fine, maybe I’m being a troll bigger than the one Thor had to kill in the non-canon video game Thor: God of Thunder, but there is an actual possibility here. Not to erase beloved actors and characters, because despite their faults series like Daredevil have fiercely devoted audiences. But to have those characters come back with fresh takes, thanks to the plot devices introduced in Loki. Heck, we already can intuit that Loki in some way is tying into and/or setting up the multiversal madness of Doctor Strange 2, as well as Spider-Man: No Way Home. And there are even rumors that Charlie Cox might show up as a certain blind lawyer in the latter movie. So though it may hurt, establishing the Marvel TV series that preceded WandaVision as “variants” is an opportunity to make them part of the overall tapestry, while allowing those actors and characters to move forward in the larger universe.

Even Kevin Feige, the architect behind the MCU, expressed interest in this when he appeared at the Television Critics Association tour back in February, stating that not only were there “legions” of fans for the previous series online, but that he believes they might be able to use the characters — even the ones who still exist on Netflix — in series going forward.

Not that there’s a lack of characters, or series and movies coming down the road from Marvel. But if one simple flick of the TVA’s collective wrist could solve the logical problem of how to get Luke Cage onto the Avengers, or the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actually working with, you know… S.H.I.E.L.D.? Let’s blow that time grenade, folks.
