I would completely agree if it was a six hour long movie, broken out into different episodes. However, I can't think of any TV show that has used the same director for each episode. I hope it works.

Wow practical effects were used for that.

One of my favorite series That 70's Show has all episodes (except the pilot) directed by David Trainer and seemed consistent enough right up until the end (even if the show's quality dropped in the final season). I agree with the previous comment though, if they have a specific vision (no pun intended) for the story, it could very well work especially with the scale of a movie.

I think having different directors worked half-and-half when Mandalorian did it on the same scale, some episodes felt out of place and different vibes than others. Season 2 definitely seemed more consistent but you could still tell each episode was from a completely different team. Just spewing personal thoughts

I am what you could be described as a casual viewer of Super Hero films with Marvel outdoing DC and The Boys being the best we have received in a streaming / post prestige TV world. I will likely rewatch the Marvel films when my son (nearly 5) has the attention span to sit through the film and understands the violence is fake. Right now he is enjoying Spider-Man cartoons which has been fun watching them with him.

So with that out of the way a I have watched the first two parts of Wanda Vision. Immediately two things come to mind:

1) You can feel David Lynch’s fingerprints all over these two episodes (not literally of course but as an influence). The pacing leading to anxious moments, use of music, etc. And of course the general weirdness/mystery to it.

2) Between the Lynch feeling I got and the use of retro settings, I just feel like I have seen all of this before, and I think the show believes it is far more clever then it actually is. I was pretty bored throughout. This almost feels like the 2020 version of Style over Substance.

I am sure most will disagree with my opinions but thus is life.

Liking the show so far, but not loving it. I’m worried this weekly format is good and bad for the show. Good for fans who want to theorize what is really going on, but bad for the fact that if the remaining episodes progress the actual plot this slowly, we are in for a LONG ride.

I was really interested to see what they would do with the whole sitcom spoof aspect of the show, but so far it feels like a lot of padding. We just had 2 episodes where nothing really happened other than a few hints something is not right. If we have to sit through another four or five episodes just like these before they break out of this illusion, I can see a lot of viewers losing interest, so hopefully things pick up a bit next week.

I enjoyed it more than I was expecting. I like how it almost felt like a separate entity than the MCU as a whole, other than a few obvious moments. Sort of like if we got an actual Batman-esque Marvel show back in the 50's/60's. It was also nice seeing some levity brought to Vision and Scarlett Witch, who have thus far been rather serious characters.

I do wish there was just a liiiitle bit more of the mystery, but I think it's just enough for a tease, and obviously it'll grow in coming episodes. I do foresee this being perhaps Marvel's most divisive project yet, but it'll be fun to rewatch once the mystery is revealed to see just how many little hidden things there were. And anyway, after a year of no Marvel at all, it's good to have something to look forward to again!

Dude. It’s only the first hour of a four hour long story. Give it time before jumping ship this early on.

Mike Flanigan (Haunting of Hill House), David Lynch (Twin Peaks S3), Cary Fukunaga (True Detective)...those are some directors who did every episode. Lynch did 18 eps!

True, plus there's a LOT going on in the background.
[Show spoiler]Agnes. Mentions of Strucker & Hydra. The house changing between scenes. Bee guy. "Stop it." SWORD. The noises that Stark toaster made. Dozens of other subtle little details. Anyone that thinks there's nothing going on here ain't paying attention.

And... flourish!

Check out James Burrows' directing credits, specifically Cheers and Will & Grace.

Never said I was jumping ship, mostly just venting that the weekly format kinda hurts the way they’re handling the slow reveal of what’s really going on IMO. If I was binging this it would likely be a non-issue. I’m more worried about casual viewers jumping ship cause they don’t have the patience.

Edgar Wright directed every episode of both seasons of Spaced.

The Good Place
The X-Files
Life on Mars

These are a few shows that spread the mystery over an entire season or show run. Geez, even How I Met Your Mother took nine years to get to the point and still forgot to answer some questions in show like the pineapple incident.

I hate that younger audiences have to “binge” or marathon watch a show to get invested. No, wait, I hate that they want to use that as an excuse to hate a show or act disinterested.

The Mandalorian is a hit for Disney+, had two seperate suprises for it’s two years, and was not hurt by “dragging” out these reveals. Do you, you personally, fast foward a two to three hour movie just to get to the end?

Oh, and if you don’t think Marvel Studio fans do not have patience: it took 22 films to bring together all of the characters in the MCU under one film. That does not include the slow burn reveals over those 22 films.

Marvel Studio fans also tuned in weekly to Agent Carter and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which also took season or seasons to reveal plot points.

Perhaps they should change the name of the channel to "Marvel+." Just another reason for this DISNEY fan to save his bucks!

Twin Peaks, Lost, WestWorld and many other weekly television series have all slowly revealed their mysteries as well and were just as successful in garnering a fan base.

Besides, this is Marvel. I don’t think they’ll be losing any viewers soon.

I've already really liked Wanda in the regular MCU, felt like she was underrated and underutilized. The Show makes me like her more already but of course the first two episodes are pseudo-exaggerated. I enjoyed the first two episodes so much. Can't wait to see how all of this unfolds.
