That is interesting, if I have trouble I'll give it a try. It would seem (at least coming from more UHD experience) that a larger bandwidth port would always be best.

Whelp, no luck. Popped in Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter 3D in the 3D BD player and it immediately said you need a 3D player and a 3D display to view this disc.
This was being routed through my receiver up to HDMI 1. 3D turned on on the projector. I got too frustrated to try anything else. I'll give it a shot tomorrow. |

Got it to work! I tries HDMI 2 (1.4) on the projector and it auto detected too 1080/24hz 3d signal. New glasses worked right out of the box.
The trouble now is that this input will not allow a 4k signal. I only have a single HDMI out via the receiver, so do I need to climb up and move the cable over to HDMI2 every time I watch a 3d disc? And leave it in slot 1 for everything else? |

Excellent! I ordered the switch and two 1.5ft HDMI cables. I will mount the switch on the wall just behind the projector and hit the button if I need to jump to the 3D input source.
I greatly appreciate everyone's help here. Thanks! |

I was thinking just a switch. A single long-run HDMI leaving my receiver up to behind the projector, then a short run from the switch headed to HDMI 1 and HDMI 2. Leave it as default to HDMI 1 for cable TV, anything on Xbox one (standard BD, 4k, apps, games etc.) and hit the switch to send the signal up to HDMI 2 for 3d discs. Manually select the source with the projector remote.
Shouldn't that do it? |

A splitter sends one signal two directions. A switch sends two signals (assuming it has two HDMI inputs) one direction. ![]() Imagine the picture above but change the TVs at the top to your projector (HDMI1 and HDMI2) and change the laptop to your AV receiver (assuming your XBox and cable box are plugged into that).. |

Yep, that makes sense. I guess in my mind I was thinking of it as a switch because I'm switching which input the signal is headed to. Either way, as long as it works and I don't need to move the cable around from Port to Port I'll be sound as pound!
Updates to follow. P.S. I have been doing lots of painting, wiring, tidying, etc. so all of the work is due for a mini build thread. As I make that available I'll post a thread link for those interested. Cheers. |

Update, and its not a good one. Finally plugged in the splitter (Techole brand from Amazon) and two short HDMI cables (Zeskit brand from Amazon) and no video. I bought two pairs of the cables and they worked behind the AV equipment. So it has to be the splitter? I was only testing it for cable TV broadcast but it immediately returned when I ran the HDMI direct.
Maybe I should try the one suggested a couple posts above? |

I once got a splitter and it messed up the signals. A switch box would be preferable. Hope this works out for you. |

How can you send one AV signal to two HDMI inputs with a switch? |

[QUOTE=chip75;16230349]Some of the Techole devices don't seem to split. What were you attempting, outputting the cable box to HDMI1 and HDMI2 with your BenQ?
Correct. A single long-run HDMI out of the AV receiver, into the splitter on the wall behind the projector, and a 1.5 ft. HDMI each going to input 1 (cable tv, BD, 4k, etc.) and input 2 (3d only) on the projector. Once I placed that piece of the puzzle in the video cut out. It immediately returned when I removed it and put the long-run HDMI back in Input 1 of the BenQ. so that leads me to believe the splitter is fouling up the video signal? I'm trying to make double sure before I return it and pick out another. I'll happily spend a few extra bucks if it means I got a rock-solid one. |
