I see this movie as the ultimate test of survival. She will track and hunt the Predator. Probably using her familiar environment to her advantage.
I hope it's something like that. Might make it a little too similar to the the last half of 1, but that's okay.

I think it could be more her trying not to die, then killing the Predator.
More on the defensive side.

Going by the plot synopsis, I took it as a Predator is hunting the tribe, so her (and maybe her brother) hunt it back.

Right, which should involve tracking and looking for weaknesses. Hunting something is fine, killing it is something else.

I think it aligns perfectly for how they are describing her character. She is working harder because they keep telling her she can't do these things.

Which would them give her an advantage against the Predator.

The advantage: GIRL POWER! And She's SUPER WOKE

I wonder if the Predator will not have those advantages, and if it'll even have the tech we've seen in recent movies.

I predict there will be a scene of her using a horse to avoid detection from the infrared.

Well we have seen the Predators abandon their tech to make the hunt more of a challenge.

I get that it's sci-fi and unrealistic.
But that doesn't stop from certain elements from being too silly or forced in.

I'm not one to scream things to be too woke or sjw or any of that.
But this one just seems a bit on the nose. I mean a character with a name that translates to 'no"? Come on.

I don't think it's any more 'woke or sjw' than Mulan or Pocahontas...just with a Predator thrown in there.

TO which I say: throw more Predator into any and everything possible.

Amazing to me that it took this long to do a Predator movie set in the past.

I’ve thought for a while that a Predator vs. Vikings movie could be awesome.

I mean, I get it. The story sounds interesting, but it's not going to do great at the box office. I don't think the Gen Population will be interested in it

There's a reason most Hollywood productions previously aimed towards male audiences turn to crap imo and its when you flip in feminist angles for almost no relevant reason and constantly bang on that drum throughout the runtime.

[Show spoiler]What most of us probably loved about Alien was Ripley simply was. She just did things to survive and there wasn't an agenda based on Gender being pushed. Same thing made Sarah Connor a bad ass because it wasn't "I'm awesome cause i'm a woman(!)" but because of everything she had gone through in Terminator and offscreen in T2 and her actions during the movie without really focusing on gender as a component of her character.

Is trying to shoehorn gender politics around the time of Native Americans really the best way to sell a movie about an interstellar monster coming to kill for sport? It's merely going to be a distraction.

Just so it's clear, i have NO qualms with female characters and in fact appreciate them when written well and feeling organically integrated into a movie. I'd be much more impressed if unlike the way they worded it, they had found a way for the female to integrate herself into the hunt for the Predator with her brothers backing.

EDIT

Decided to put the stuff in spoilers for those who want to read it and those that don't clare able to just ignore and move on as i know it doesn’t seem to have been a popular opinion.

I think that will be a given for most movies going forward. I am interested in checking this out though.

I just don't understand the difference between Sarah Connor, who's entire plot line was based on being a woman and needing to give birth, and this plotline. I don't see how one is about empowerment and the other is a feminist angle. (Not going to go nuts over Ripley, because with the exception of one scene in Alien 3, her gender was irrelevent) Same can be said about the Mulan story. And I don't see it.
Honestly, this just sounds like a Native American version of Mulan, but with a Predator.

I'm not necessarily arguing with you either. I just don't see the issue. We can get woman empowerment stories and not have it be troublesome. Also, all we know is a general plot-synopsis. If the issue is the way they worded it...also not really a huge deal.

My biggest question is what rating are they shooting for.

The idea of Sarah Connor evolving as a character fit more naturally into the arc we had presented for the movies is what i'm saying i guess. A woman who would give birth to the future saviour of Mankind during the war with the Machines. However your example of Mulan is also not quite the same here because Mulan pretends to be a man to take the place of her father being forcibly conscripted to the Army and then uses that subterfuge to earn respect of some of the fellow troops.

This is much more overt about a gender struggle during a movie where a Predator is supposed to be ripping through a swathe of bodies. Really the right time or movie for that? Hell, make it into its own movie and go see who wants to watch it as a standalone thing imo.

I've kind of pitched my own version of this Predator 5 set up they want to go with sans the gender politics and tbh, even if they want to keep the female close to the action, they're really gonna have to have their work cut out not making it look contrived imo.
