Hmm. I was considering selling my LE Gift Set and replacing it with this, but the omission of the third BD with the 1923 version of the film nixes that idea. And one UHD for the whole movie kind of worries me, even though neither LoA nor ROTK made the most of their two platters. I hope Paramount has a skilled compressionist and uses every bit of space on a BD-100.

It’s important to note the Blu-ray was missing extras in the first place. The 50th anniversary DVD release featured a different making of:

Six-Part Making Of (with Play All function) (37:36)
- "Moses" featurette (7:27)
- "The Chosen People" featurette (7:33)
- "Land Of The Pharaohs" featurette (6:10)
- "The Paramount Lot" featurette (6:51)
- "The Score" featurette (2:49)
- "Mr. DeMille" featurette (6:43)

I hope, rather than blowing the previous Blu-ray release out of the water, it parts the red sea with it, so to speak. I hope it truly shines, looks heavenly, is angelic, is something to be worshipped, a truly miraculous release.

But I might just end up getting the Premium Collection with all the extras instead, that if it isn’t discontinued like happened with Pet Sematary.

I suppose having the film on one disc (if that’s what happens) is an improvement on the old one, or could be a detriment.

How is the Katherine Orrison commentary track?

Did anyone cringe at their statement that they smoothed out the optical effects? Slathered DNR all over the image is what they are talking about unless they were able to take the raw matte negative plates and digitally re-comp them.

I have a re-release poster with that gorgeous image on it. Really hoping that's what's used instead of the normal DVD/Blu Ray cover.

Paramount really is weird though when it comes to choosing what gets put on UHD Blu-ray outside of tie ins.
Ghost? Airplane? Nope.

A film from the 50s that's only going to be sought after by an even smaller fraction of the already niche enthusiast community? Sure.

I can only assume it's something to do with their "archive team" working on these scans, and needing to cover costs.

Tiffany's I believe is a much more prestige title as well as it's 60th Anniversary being this year.

I saw this at the Paramount lot back in 2010 when it was restored in 6K and it was a great experience. The PR release they're working from that for the 4K and finishing it in DV. Day 1 on this bad boy!
