I'd want it for the simple fact that you get more picture even if it wasn't meant to be presented that way. I enjoy having as much of the image available but I know it's definitely not for everyone.

As much as I grew up endlessly watching the open matte version and would be happy see it on the disc as an extra, it does add a lot of goofs due to stuff been visible that shouldn't be.

I think a bit too much stock is put in open mattes sometimes - Cactus Jack and Jaws 4 being perfect examples where most, if not all, of the technical (erroneously labeled) "goofs" are only visible in the open matte versions (which for both films were historically always the versions put out on video and shown on TV). It's one thing being able to see a bit more of someone's leg, or a bit of extra scenery, but when you start seeing crew members, equipment and effects reveals when it was never intended it's a little bit different.

I'm not an expert on it, but I'm under the impression that it's perhaps cheaper to shoot open matte or offers some flexibility.

The problem with open matte here is that it undermines the film. Amusing as it may be, I don't think Jackie Chan intended for the matte box to appear in the finished film.

I like the open matte AoG for the sheer novelty of it being one of the few flat Chan films to actually have an open matte image, and the only flat film he personally directed.

It's a fun relic, but that's about it.
