Haven't watched this show yet, so was wondering if this show would be fine for my niece (9) and nephew (6). They watched a good chunk (not the whole thing) of Ghostbusters (1984) and weren't scared at all during the scary parts. I was shocked there haha. My niece def wants to watch it.

I'd say it's borderline. There is some blood and some slashing. Not too graphic, but maybe not something you want to a expose a 6-year old to.

This is a case where I would have the parents watch it and have them give you guidance. We don't really know your niece and nephew and we really don't know their parent's media preferences, and our opinions might be all over the place.

I know that I would have been upset with my brother if he would have shown my kids a movie that they weren't really ready yet without at least consulting me first.

Finally got around to watching this and ended up really enjoying it though if I'm to be honest it felt like they put Wednesday in a Harry Potter movie.

Sort of, and this will be an unpopular opinion but I'd rather watch Wednesday than Harry Potter films which I find are rather UN-entertaining.

Chiming in to check with the parents, but also to add some context of watching with my own kids. All the super-scary stuff is telegraphed a mile away (so kids know to cover their eyes if they want to). Nothing really surpasses
[Show spoiler]the hiker getting it in the first episode
, in that respect.

What's worth thinking about is that although Wednesday is definitely the (anti-)heroine of the piece, she's definitely not good. Her nastiness is usually of such a nature that you're willing to cut her some slack, if for no other reason than Jenna Ortega's performance is so captivating, and it's usually funny too. But, trying not to spoil anything, there's a bit at the end where Wednesday starts straying over the line, meets no resistance, and then almost immediately proceeds to go way the hell over the line.

Basically: Wednesday is sure she's right, and doesn't care how what she does impacts others. This combination can go nasty directions, and I actually think the show made a very bold choice in having her do exactly that. But it does maybe need some context for kids who might react "WTF is the hero doing?" at some point. IMO it'd take a special 6 year old. But I'm sure they exist.

I would advise you to wait on showing them "Wednesday" until they're several years older. The BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) gave it a 12 rating.

https://www.bbfc.co.uk/release/wedne...pwwc0xmda5ntu5

And the Australian Classification Board (ACB) gave it a M rating (Recommended for Mature Audiences 15 years and older).

https://www.classification.gov.au/ti...esday-season-1

You claim that you think they could handle it because they were able to handle the "scary parts" of the 1984 movie "Ghostbusters", but I should tell you this-"Ghostbusters" was intended to be funny, not scary. They may be traumatized if you show them something intended to be scary.

If they can handle the horror elements of that film, they should be able to handle this.

Finally got to start seeing this.

I'm only on episode 2 but... it's a struggle. Ortega is of interest cuz she's solid and is really the only thing of great value. But the dialogue and plotting is a bit on the poor side. There's no surprise. The mystery doesn't bring me intrigue. The dialogue is very generic.

For the most part the show has a visual style that I can enjoy and then at times... it's framing very flat and unimpressive.

The social culture in the show just seems so fake even if the show has ridiculous characters. There's a reality missing w/ the issues of these people. It's just a lot of stereotype w/ some style added but no soul.

It's something that annoys me w/ bad dialogue. It's like writers forget how people actually talk w/ a sense of earnest reality. So much of it just lacks punch.

Shame no 4K, but hey, ANY Netflix series getting a physical media release is a pleasant surprise.

Discfather claims there will be a 4K... so take it with however many grains of salt you want.

Though with it being an MGM title, it could easily get a MOD release through WB, but I won't credit him for using common sense and possibilities.
