There's such a yuge effort to try and "dunk" on the pundits who wondered if this movie would fail, an effort that even includes the actor playing SC himself, that could it be possible that Disney would shoot for the "Jordan-in-his-Prime" dunk by releasing this on 3D in the USA?
Though the jury is still out on whether SC will be a flop, but if Disney were to release the 3D bluray domestically regardless in a bid to really "flex" on those YouTubers, I think we could all count that as a win? |

The jury is literally not out on whether the movie will be profitable.

Last I heard, SC has not yet made a profit. Quote:
It's also in the bottom 5 of MCU openings. If Disney really wants to sell the narrative that SC was indeed a smashing success then they'll need to show it bringing back 3D blurays to the USA. After all, if it were a success, Disney would roll out the 3D ![]() |

So far, it does not seem like the 3D community has had much success asking Disney to release 3D blurays.
What could it hurt to flip the script and try to get Disney to release 3D blurays to spite us? How can I tell Simu Liu that nothing will make me regret questioning his movie more than if Disney puts 4K + 3D Bluray Steelbooks of Shang-Chi and the 10 Rings onto the shelves of every Best Buy in the land? ![]() Here, I don't care if SC loses, I only care that 3D wins ![]() |

Let's see Disney's next move related to 3D discs if they get contracts with manufacturers to produce that media format so that Japan isn't the sole contry releasing it at high prices. |

given how shockingly dim the projector was, the 3D still worked, I loved the fight along side the building, the depth was great and the one moment when one of the blades flipped up towards the screen (audience's faces) made me physical wince.

It’s like the 50’s all over again. Poor projection contributing to lack of support for 3d. I had an errand to run in Boston so excitedly tacked on a 3d showing of Shang chi. After sitting through half an hour of flat previews the 3d sign finally lit up, and they play the film. Horribly misaligned. It was like trying to watch 3d without 3d glasses. I walked out immediately and got a refund. I asked the manager were they able to fix it for the rest of the people who stayed, and he said no. They’d offer them refunds too. That was probably my only chance to see it in 3d, unless it gets a 3d blu.

No it was real 3d, and I had real 3d glasses. No idea why it was the way it was. I’d say a lot of experience went from the movie theaters when they had to close. Could be just the person projecting had done something wrong. Was 1:30 on a Friday afternoon and this was their only 3d screening. My usual movie theater hasn’t shown one 3d film since they reopened, and they used to show all of them in 3d.

Saw 3D SHANG CHI over the long weekend.
I thought the 3D was great. Lots of depth which is great at enhancing vertigo, and fantastic in the scenes with lots of layers (e.g. bamboo forest) scenes. The opening sequence was beautiful and I really enjoyed the scenes in San Francisco and Macau. Great use of 3D. Storywise, it was pretty much exactly what I had expected from a Marvel movie. In fact, I thought I saw this movie before when it was called BLACK PANTHER. Like others have said, this movie had a strong first half, but a weak second half. I think the CGI mostly spoils it. Much like WONDER WOMAN, IRON MAN and others, it started out strong and went downhill. Fortunately, most people will remember the first impressions and like the movie. I think it would have been better if it stayed in the real world and didn't have to go back to the folklore. It did do a good job of trying to integrate Chinese culture, but a lot of it is still very stereotypical. Still it's a step forward for comic book movies. |

I don't know what you're smoking, but I'd love to try some. What others? Most people I know absolutely loved the movie from beginning to end. It has a 98% positive audience response on RT, which I believe is the highest of any CBM ever.
The movie makes a very deliberate progression from the title character's self-centered defense ( [Show spoiler] ) to family-centered defense ([Show spoiler] ) to eventually fighting to protect all of humanity ([Show spoiler] ). It is a beautiful, well-designed character arc, one which like that of Luke Skywalker, goes from the hero's more self-centered needs to his acceptance of the role as he hero who has to save everybody. The final battle is a sight to behold, going back and forth [Show spoiler] . It just doesn't get more awesome than this.... especially if you get to watch the movie in 4DX, which makes the last half-hour of the movie absolutely mind-blowing experience. As for any alleged "stereotypes," I don't have any idea what you're talking about. The movie goes out of its way to specifically condemn the very stereotypes that had been used in the comics.... one of the main characters does so in a very pointed and humourous way. Maybe you missed this? |

I usually HATE seeing movies in 3D (poor post-conversions can give me a headache, thanks to my sensitive depth-perception), but when I see this again, I’m very much considering watching it in 3D. The big three or four major action set pieces all feel like the 3D would complement them well in different ways (particularly the fight in Macau, with a level of verticality on display that I don’t think we see in major blockbusters all that often).

I'm going to get the 3D blu-ray of the movie for the two set pieces in act 1 and 2 but I'll be honest, I really don't like pretty much the entire third act. But the action in the first half of the movie is outstanding. If the entire movie was like that this movie would have been one of my favorite MCU movies. As it is (for me) it's like BVS a movie that has great set pieces rather than being a great movie.
