Had forgot to post about this, a mid-fifties British drama film called Profile, whose cast includes actress Thea Gregory. After reading on TPTV's Facebook page a few months ago about her (she sadly passed away a week before Christmas Day last year (source: Thea Gregory's main IMDb page), and the mention of an interesting-sounding film called Profile, I was keeping an eye out for when it would be airing again on TPTV. It was shown in the early hours of this past Sunday morning (have started watching it).
Finished watching a couple of nights ago, late-forties British horror film The Ghost of Rashmon Hall (the cast including Valentine Dyall). Don't always believe the marks out of five that TV & Satellite Week's film critics give for films. Make up your mind (especially if it's a film and/or TV film you've not seen before). They gave a low mark for this film. I quite liked it (some of the reasons being the visuals, including in the titles at the beginning). Recently on The Footage Detectives, Noel spoke about a vast library of films etc. that they had acquired (the Baim library), which includes The Ghost of Rashmon Hall and an information/education short film (shown recently, the cast included a well-known actor who has been in a few British films TPTV has shown (I forgot to post about this information/education short film at the time (I've forgotten the name of the actor). Based on the main IMDb page, The Ghost of Rashmon Hall is the US title of the film. It's also known as Night Comes Too Soon. |

First episode of The Buccaneers starring Robert Shaw today... who at no point actually appeared in the episode except for in the opening credits
![]() I found that quite bizarre. Imagine watching the first episode of The Saint and finding Roger Moore only appears in the opening credits... |

Spotted in the TV Schedule section TPTV's website recently (among the recently added weeks) that In Suspicious Circumstances is getting a second run soon (airing in the same regular timeslot it had before (Saturday evenings/nights at 7 pm - 8 pm), starting on Saturday 3rd June (the same day that Fireball XL5 is starting on TPTV).
I doubt it that they will show more episodes of ISC than they did the first time, but we shall see. During an ad break during a recording of a film I watched on TPTV in the last few days, there was a promo trailer for Fireball XL5. P.S.: I had a senior moment with Stop Me Before I Kill! I watched it thinking it hadn't had a Blu-ray release. The alternative title (or one of the alternative titles) is The Full Treatment, which having checked the Blu-ray.com database, the film has had a UK Blu-ray release by Powerhouse Films/Indicator..which I have a copy of. ![]() |

Recorded Lady in Cement and instantly deleted it. It was cropped from 2.35:1 to something or other and it looked like crap. I realise they can only show what they've got but there are limits!
On a more positive note - there was a very watchable film on recently about the early life of Australian pianist Eileen Joyce called Wherever She Goes. Started watching it and had to finish it. Not too bad at all. Last edited by DTSBOY; 05-18-2023 at 03:41 PM. |

![]() The Detective is getting a screening soon on TPTV soon. I saw it in the TV Schedule section. I'd need to double-check, but I've got some things set to record on TPTV during the next week (along with the usual programmes), including a film (but my mind has gone blank). I know there are two episodes of One Step Beyond on next week, and three episodes in a few weeks time. One of the American series that has been getting another airing in the early hours of the morning on TPTV has been Mrs. G Goes to College (aka The Gertrude Berg Show). Another TV series airing on TPTV of late has been Ensign O'Toole (the cast including Dean Jones). |

This weekend was another episode of TFJM set in France. Which meant another cameo for Frank Thornton who only seems to appear in the French episodes (sometimes as a gendarme like this week, but he's also been minor villains and sometimes even been killed!).
And also meant another cameo for Honor Blackman as Collier's erm secretary. Neither of whom present particularly convincing French accents. In this episode with a "surprise twist" involving a treacherous accomplice, we also saw Charles Gray (minus white cat). Can you guess who the treacherous person was! And a young French girl at the roadside was portrayed by none other than a teenage Jane Asher! (later a well known actress and ex girlfriend of Sir Paul McCartney)! Episode 2 of The Buccaneers looked to be a continuation of episode 1 with Alec Clunes (Martin Clunes father) working on the defence of the island from them thar pirates (noted that one of the islanders even had a limp!). Seems like Robert Shaw will arrive next week. Just a guess, I think they must have filmed the first 2 episodes as a pilot and then for whatever reason Alec Clunes didn't continue into the series. Will know more in next few weeks! |

Apologies for using the exclamation mark in the post title. A good reason for it (like with Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Season 6 starting properly on Sky Arts soon). TPTV from tomorrow evening/night (Saturday 3rd June) will be starting a repeat run of In Suspicious Circumstances. Someone asked on the channel's FB page earlier today about whether they will be showing just the same episodes as on the first run on TPTV. The channel has responded by saying there will be new (to the channel) episodes. Great stuff.

On a separate note, while I had my weekend break off here, I was thinking that I had made a typo or error in one of my UK TV Shows posts last Friday night. And if I remember where it was made, I try to correct it before someone else points it out (some on here point it out in the right way, and some don't). |

I started watching western These Thousand Hills either last Sunday night, or early this week, and stopped after the title credits were shown. It was presented in widescreen (shot in Cinemascope), then a few seconds after the 'Directed by' credit was shown, the image then filled the whole screen, which surely wasn't correct (the same thing happened with a screening on TPTV a few months ago of a western noir called Edge of Eternity (that film I ended up watching all of, despite it being presented in the wrong aspect ratio after the title credits were shown). I think I read it recently in a TPTV or Renown Pictures email newsletter, that TPTV are going to be filming a new season of The Cellar Club with Caroline Munro soon. I love the Cellar Club introductions, and that title sequence and music.. ![]() |

I’ve noticed a few films shown in the wrong aspect ratio on TPTV recently, I think they just broadcast what they have got regardless of quality which is better than nothing Isuppose I wish Neil Cronin and TPTV would state ‘New’ on the next Cellar Club series and other shows that have not been shown before as I get confused by all the repeats! I like the letters to Caroline Munro being read out and answered, I met her once at a TV and movie convention at the N.E.C in Birmingham, she was absolutely charming and easy to talk to. |

Regarding the sad news about TCM Movies UK (posted by fellow member/poster Gekko in the UK TV Shows thread for that channel), it shows that even more now that Talking Pictures TV needs all the support it can, as it's one of the few UK TV channels left which isn't like the main TV channels (ie. showing something different), flying the flag for vintage TV and films. The majority of the people who I've seen discussing Talking Pictures TV on here and on the TPTV Facebook page have been positive.
