This could be another year where the split the top two prizes and go with Spielberg for director and Everything for movie. I don't see the other 3 nominees taking the Director award away from either of those two movies.
I guess they could throw a real curve ball and award Top Gun: Maverick the top prize so Cruise could win his first Oscar. Regardless, I hope Fabelmans gets some love, even if it's just for the screenplay.

You may see Williams win Best Original Score. It's been almost thirty years since he's won.

I'm a selective Spielberg fan. It took me awhile to decide I wanted to see this, and own it. Finally the other day I was ready and Amazon has deleted their pages for both the standard blu-ray and the 4K. Maybe the DVD, I didn't look but all I found there was the streaming version.

Best Buy had the 4K for 30.99 which was a bit pricey for me. After the Oscars it had dropped today to 19.99 so I grabbed one. 3 copies at my store, all with slipcovers.

Really enjoyed the film and it left me wanting more.

Did want to say, I'm grateful for the Dolby soundtrack. Dolby anything is music to my 21 year old, still like new Dolby Digital-only receiver. Whether it's Atmos or TrueHD, 7.1 or 5.1, it shows up as AC3 3/2.1 on my receiver and sounds way better than DTS converted to PCM.

Bizarre!

I've never seen this before.

It's not like the BD and UHD are just sold out and the pages are still there but the discs are only available from third-party sellers.

The pages for the items are entirely gone.

Went to buy it yesterday and found the same - it's still not there. WB UK shop has it for pre-order 13th March, which was.... yesterday.

Amazon UK has it for pre-order 23rd December 2023 which is JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS.

What the hell are they doing with this film?

Personally I think it's hilarious that he didn't just flat out call the movie "The Spielbergs" because it was too on the nose, as if making a movie about yourself wasn't. At least it would've actually made some money if he called it that.
Except the problem with Spielberg's is that he didn't have an interesting enough childhood to make a good movie about. Being well made and being a good film that tells any sort of interesting story are two different things. Oh he was Jewish and got bullied. That's the whole story. Although at least it's not as watchable as West Side Story, but then again, it didn't have Cancer Elgort.

Watched the UHD Sunday night. One of the best-looking and best-sounding 4K discs I've seen/heard so far. Great movie. I felt that this is Spielberg's Fanny and Alexander. There's so many memorable scenes and performances. What a great ending, too.

I saw it at Best Buy today too for $19.99. Thought I'd price-check Amazon and found it was completely removed as well.

So I bought it from BB... weird that they'd remove it like that.

I got curious and tried a customer service call with Amazon. The gentleman in India could only suggest that it was something to do with conractual agreements with distributors. I checked and Amazon.ca had all versions in stock.

It's weird, I'm not a big time collector like I was with DVDs, but it seems like whenever a fairly big release that I'm interested in comes out, Amazon manages to fail somehow. They completely botched the ability to order The Beatles Get Back last summer so I bought it at Target instead, and now this.

I also got curious and started a chat.
Slightly redacted chat log between me (KM) and the customer service representative (CS):

Quote:
Hello KM! Greetings for the day! I am CS. I will be assisting you from here. How are you today? I will help you today! Could you please elaborate the issue, so I can assist you at my best?

Hi, what happened to item B0BMJ4FVTJ, "The Fabelmans (4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital) [4K UHD]"? It seems to have completely disappeared - at least the product page that was there until yesterday or the day before yesterday is now gone. I ordered it in order # 113-5611555-8664237. And it should be a readily available item, a very popular 4K Blu-ray. Very much curious and wondering why it can't be found on Amazon.com!

I am really sorry for that experience. KM, as I have checked that the item is not available right now from the seller end.
That is the reason you are unable to see the item available. I am really sorry for all this hassle.

Can you shed some more light on what the reasons are here that it's unavailable? I mean, this is an extremely popular, Oscar-nominated movie and the 4K UHD Blu-ray was released on 14 February 2023, a month ago. It's readily available on a lot of store shelves - so what's really going on here?

KM, as I have checked that the DVD is not available in stock, that is the reason we can not see it on product page.
Please be assured that once the item came in stock you will again be able to purchase this.
I am really sorry for the inconvenience caused to you in this case!

But there is a big difference between "not in stock", in which case there should still be a product page indicating as such, and the product page completely disappearing. I'm asking why did the latter happen and not the former, if this is just a stock issue?

I am sorry to keep you waiting.
Thanks for your time KM, I have escalated this issue and please be rest assured that it will get updated within 24-48 hours
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We will take care of this and it will surely updated within 24-48 hours.

Sure, I hope the product page will go up again as soon as possible. Shouldn't have been taken down at all...

Yes KM, I have already escalated this issue with the dedicated team and they will take care of this.

Thank you for your help!

Yes KM, we will surely resolve this issue within 24-48 hours.I really appreciate your kind understanding in this case!
So if it's back up in the next day or two, thank me.
More seriously, I didn't get a whole lot of information and not sure what will really happen behind the scenes...

Hopefully you helped them to find a glitch, or an anti-Semite employee. Because of course they normally still have pages for out of stock items. Third party sellers can still sell the items through them for example, and used copies.

BTW I watched the bonus material earlier. Even though it's split into 3 parts, it's still a very nice doc directed by Laurent Bouzereau, who has been making the best making-of docs for decades, in my opinion. Normally I watch a making-of after a film, and I get annoyed by having to see scenes that I just watched in the film itself. Laurent has a way of avoiding that and keeping things moving.

Mine didn’t have any slips either. Will have to track one down at B&N hopefully.

I want the slip. :C

What's up with that? My friend bought Universal UHDs back in November and even Sing 2 which came out in May had slips still. Why is this one running out of it so quick?

I’m guessing the print run was a lot lower than Sing 2. I found a slip copy at B&N (which is lucky because they usually throw all their slips in the trash)
