I think we should be happy that a few are starting to become available on blu-ray. The next ones I would like to see would be some of the Paramount ones - "We're No Angels" and "Sabrina".

I think they know (now) exactly what the best possible treatment for a film is, which is exactly why they are doing it RIGHT this time — to make up for the previous DNR job.

I don't want to disparage you, but that is ridiculous. Even if we took just the movies he made at WB, that would be about 40 films. A number of those, he had only supporting roles in. Sure, I would like a lot more Bogart...and Cagney...and Flynn, etc., but do you know how much that would cost WB in getting them up to BD standards?! And a set of Bogie films (let's use that 40 I mentioned), would be probably be at least $600-$1,000. I am a big Bogart fan, but I am not about to spend $600 on a set like that, and I think 99.9% of people here wouldn't go for it. That may be fine for you if all you want in this world are Bogart films and absolutely nothing else, but not the rest of us. I think you better stick with trying to create a Bogie DVD set for yourself.

p.s. -- I suspect this thing you are preaching is all a big put-on since, looking at your collection, I notice you only have two pre-1960 films in there, one of which is a John Wayne film. Should they hold off issuing on JW until they have a set of his 170+ films?

Then you guys are not Bogart fans then. If I only have 3 Bogart films on my shelf, do you have any idea how ridiculous that would look? That's like releasing 2 or 3 random Harry Potter movies on BD and then calling it quits. Harry Potter fans want ALL the Harry Potter movies. I'm a Bogart fan, so I want all the movies!!! Bogart movies are an all or nothing. Either release them all or release nothing.

PS- I'm only a casual John Wayne fan. But I can certainly understand if diehard fans demand more...

And ok, maybe asking for ALL the films is a bit unreasonable. But come on, give us a set of about 5+ films to start out with. Starting out with just a measly few and releasing them one by one at a snail pace is absurd. Give us a set of some sort. I'd gladly take a set of 5 of his best movies over just 1 or 2 individually released films. Like I said, having only 1 or 2 Bogart films on my shelf looks a bit silly.

How is it a put on? There are several other Bogart films besides those few that the WB already released. I really like the Bogie and Bacall films and not one of those are released on Blu. If anything, release that as a set. It's only 4 films. Is that too much to ask?

And I think you guys are misinterpreting my posts. I'm angry because WB is spending so much time releasing "Casablanca" over and over again on Blu, yet they're not concentrating on releasing his other films. Yes, Casablanca is a wonderful film. It's already released on Blu!!!! Move onto the next film, please!! Why go back to Casablanca and release it again?? Makes no sense.

a Bogie and Bacall set on blu would rock, the same goes for a Hepburn and Tracy set.

Do you practice coming up with silly statements like that? I have been more of a Bogart fan than you will probably ever be. When I was in my late teens, I purchased original one-sheets and lobby cards from practically every Bogart film from All Through the Night until his last, The Harder They Fall. (Couldn't afford The Maltese Falcon and before, or Casalanca.) All I have left now is most of a three-sheet from the first Bogie film I ever saw, Deadline U.S.A. I once took a three-hour trip from British Columbia to Seattle to see a triple-bill Bogart film festival at a university.

Of course, you might be like this Garbo fan I came across. Lives, breathes, and worships Garbo. I mean, obsessed. And gives full meaning to what "fan" is short for..."fanatic".

Then why do I feel like I'm the only one that wants more of his films on BD?

You said earlier that you wanted them to release all of Bogart's films or you wouldn't buy them. Now you are okay with four.

They haven't released it over and over again. Over the past few years they released it once and repackaged it a few times after that. Putting the same disc(s) in a different box takes zero time away from other projects.

Now they're releasing it a second time and by many accounts an upgrade is warranted.

I'd certainly love to see The Big Sleep and To Have and Have Not but I seriously doubt they've been delayed by whatever time has been spent on Casablanca.

You have to ask yourself that. We've said we want more but you seem to want to divert WB from producing anything else except his films.

4 is better than 1. At least you get all of the Bogie and Bacall films. And I said I'd be ok with it, but I'd much rather prefer that they release them all.... at least, all the movies in which he was the star.

Actually, if you want an absolutely complete Bogart/Bacall set, there are 5 films to get. You are forgetting Two Guys From Milwaukee.

And if the Bogart/Bacall/Henry Fonda TV version of The Petrified Forest is out there somewhere, that would be 6.

Here is Universal's DVD set on Alfred Hitchcock.
http://www.amazon.com/Alfred-Hitchco...0092210&sr=1-1

A nice 14 movie set, most of which is his best work. They are not all of his movies, but it's enough to satisfy my hunger.

Why can't the WB release a Bogart set similar to this on BD?

I'd rather have a set of 14 of Bogart's best movies instead of just a measly 2 or 3. It looks better on the shelf. Having only a few Bogart films on the shelf belittles me as a fan. It gives the impression that I'm only a casual fan rather than a big fan. I don't want people to get that impression when they look at my collection. I feel degraded that way.
