It needs to somewhat wrap up soon if they're gonna transition it into a series of movies, they've already gone through Lex and Brainiac

Well considering how they did the Bryan Singer film during Smallville's run I don't think they have to wrap up at least not for that reason.

Anybody read the Smallville magazines? Just wondering. I used to collect them and have almost all of the earlier ones. I just thought it wise to hang onto them. With that said, I was wondering if anyone else collects these.

I do agree it needs to end soon, it's starting to feel like they're milking it for everything it's worth. Don't get me wrong, I love the show, watched it from day one, and have all the DVDs/BDs. But I'm trying to figure out how much longer can he keep going without being Superman. He's already in Metropolis working at the Daily Planet, he's met and works with Lois and Jimmy, he and Lois might have a relationship growing, he's technically a superhero in Metropolis now (the "Red-Blue Blur")....how much longer till he gets glasses, learns to fly, and throws on the costume. That's pretty much all that's left.

Oh...and Lex forgetting he knows anything about Clark....

i think what a lot of people tend to forget (myself included) is that Smallville is a new interpretation of Superman's youth. While they of course incorporate many elements from the comics, movies, etc, a lot of the storylines are established just for the show. in the "superman legacy", lex obviously doesn't discover clark's abilities before he becomes superman (although i do recall he and clark were friends as kids in the comics --ckent you'll have to correct me on this), clark doesn't meet or save an alcoholic perry white or meet lois so early on, etc etc. there are some episode plots i've really disliked, but i have to remind myself this show is a reimagining of how he became superman, not the definitive basis for it.

Yes I did...and you know damn well Lex isn't dead so I would think he still knows everything.

In one version of the comics they were. That's where the idea to do that in Smallville came from.

True that. Lois and Clark first meet when Clark is the one who turns in the story of Superman to Perry White and that is what gets him the job in the comics. Lois is needless to say ANGRY, because she feels she has the right to the story.

I don't know if I would call Clark and Lex friends in the comics as youths, but if memory serves, I do recall the show being accurate in that the Luthors made a stop in Smallville early on.

I thought that too but thinking again I really do think he is at this point.
[Show spoiler] I know it's been building forever to their clash but there's no more Rosenbaum and they specifically wrote the angle for Oliver to kill him. I just think it's run it's course and now there is the projects that Lex had put in motion that Clark is left to deal with and Mercy and whatever other enemies show up. The only way I think he would not be is if the truck was somehow a decoy.
This is all just speculation from me.

I know it's partially my fanboyism but I dunno.
[Show spoiler] I just think that with Chloe having to keep Oliver's secret now, the dental record confirmation and the fact that Doomsday is still a major battle yet to unfold, especially if this does happen to be the last season (hopefully not), then they don't have much time.

if there's a season 9, my guess is this season will end with a climactic doomsday battle and next season will end hinting at clark's transformation to superman.

Or end with Clark's 'death' as a cliffhanger, similar to the comic and cartoon movie. Smallville always has awesome cliffhangers.

that would be phenomenal. at this point i assume there has to be some kind of a doomsday battle since they're not just going to introduce the character and write em out without a showdown, and what better placement than the finale? (i also think it would be really cool if kara came back to help clark? i swear supergirl tries to battle DD in the comic, right?)

what would be even more climactic is if they didn't even have the actual battle in the finale, but were just about to start it as the episode fades to black or something...that would be infuriating

Yes she does, but she's some kind of alien clone that when DD hits her, her face turns all gooey and she reverts back to her "alien" look.

Actually the entire Justice League battles Doomsday. Everyone battles him but no one on earth or any other galaxy can defeat him but Superman. And we all know how that ends with both of their deaths.
