I just got an acoustic audio HD10 sub it says shipping weight is 36lbs Im guessing that includes the box and all. Isnt that pretty light for a sub. Does that mean its not built with quality material. Im new to all this home theater stuff. Just wondering

No, almost all subs are made with 3/4" MDF wood. This subwoofer's cabinet is relatively small as many people, particulaly the WAF, do not like big ugly boxes. As a result, some manufacturers build a small box and compensate with a much more powerful amplifier. On the average, for a given size, Acoustic Audio subwoofers have much more powerful amplifiers.

there is some truth in regards to weight, but that sometimes can also be deceiving. thre are a number of well built subwoofers, and the weight can be found mostly in the drivers magnetic coil, and/or the amplifier.

as stated earlier, the cost alone of building a DIY subwoofer, with even just one component would definitely be more than $200. i cant specify enough how much time and effort it would take to build something comparative to this subwoofer.

is it the best out there? would you find other subwoofers that can outperform this? of course you can, but at a higher price point.

Dead zones, my good sir! Left couch is somewhat barren. My Dynamo is more than enough for my own seating area, but I'm trying to be fair to my visitors. And of course I got it in cherry, For only $160, it's a worthwhile experiment anyway,

I've been wanting to toy with a .2 setup for months.

ive also had the same at other forums, and we have GTG's on almost 2 times a year, depending on circumstances.

not only does this give you the opportunity to meet your fellow colleagues, but also end up auditioning speakers and reviewing them via blind test and accurate measurements.

the 8 inch sub indicated in the picture would be more than enough to handle a good 10x10 room id believe.
