That is honestly a tough choice. The RC-10 is likely to be more detailed even tho the C-300 is very well detailed and outperforms alot of speakers in that price range, the RC-10 sound big and back in 2006 they were just about the best bookshelves available for less than 1000$. I personally would prefer the RC-10 for any kind of Music over the C-300 with all due respect to Callas. I would prefer the RC-30 over my C-500. Is it strickly 2.0, do you have a sub? A good one? Even in 2.0 the RC-10 are tremendous performers so are the C-300 but it's really about what you would prefer in your Jazz, I would qualify the Rc-10 as beeing a little more refined, more researched for, either way you'll be happy. The C-300 on the on the other end will have a lower extension because of the bigger driver and cabinet so if you really enjoy the low notes in Jazz maybe the C-300 is the better way to go. FYI I think here in Canada at least the original retail price of the RC-10 was 735$ while the C-300 was 600$ a pair. After all it uses kevlar instead of carboard fiberglass diver, it has the ribbed elleptical surround that reduces distortionand also has a stronger cabinet and handles more power than the c-300. Sorry to make your choice so difficult maybe more difficult than it alredy was but I have heard both and I mean they are both great. Last edited by BigAl87; 07-03-2010 at 05:55 AM. |

However let me play the other side of the coin for you. All your speaker you have now are from the C-series, so the best match for you would be C-300s. While they may lack some detail compared to the RC-10s, I find the C-300s to be extremely detailed and full sounding for a speaker in its price range. Imaging is excellent, and the bass is actually quite nice. I have heard lots of "higher-end" speakers like PSB and Paradigm Monitors.... and the Energys stack up to them just fine. I recently re-auditioned the newer CF-70s and came home and was listening to the same songs, and I told my wife... well I better get either the Totems or Dyns because I don't think the new Energys offer me much over what I have now. It wasn't until I really auditioned the Totems and Dyns that I had found a speaker that I would want to switch the Energys out for. I think you have an interesting choice, and if you were starting out, I would say get the RCs, however since you have the C-series center and surrounds now, I would get the C-300s. They are a very good speaker. You will be very happy. I listen to John Mayer and classical and rock music and I love John Mayer and Classical on these speakers. |

Steve, I really was not sure what donaldsonjune is going to use the RC-10 with, he mentionned Jazz.
He did not mention anything about the rest of his setup in his sig but I agree with you if he's going to add to what he already has I'd say go for the C-300 as they sound amazing regardless of the RC-10's performance and they will blend in nicely with the rest of his current setup. If you ask the question plain and simple one or the other then RC-10 it is IMHO but the C-300 is a great contender. |

Diana Krall sounds fantastic on these things. Just my 2 cents, for what it's worth. I think you would enjoy these. Mike |

When I called Vann's to order my RC-10's (and they are 329 a pair now by the way, price went down right after I bought mine), the guy told me that for my small room the RC Mini would do fine, but Steve and the guys recommended I stick to the RC-LCR for best match, so that's what I'm going to do. I can wait till the price comes down later. Edit: I was just reading some reviews on the RC-Mini, and there are some out there that are using the Mini with the RC-10's and they love it. One guy said because of it's smaller drivers it lacks just a bit in mid range, but the high end matches perfectly to the RC-10. However, I'm still going to wait for the LCR. Technically yes the RC mini would work, however it is NOT the best match for the RC-10s, the RC-LCR is, and I am sure you could get them to give you 20% off...

![]() Man, looking back at the specs on them, I can see why bluray has 3 LCR's set up as his fronts. Last edited by Miker107; 07-03-2010 at 02:10 PM. |

Donaldson. If this is to go with the rest of your system. the C-300s are awesome performers, the RC 10s will be better, in fact Arrt Vanndellay on this thread used to have C-500 and he got the RC10s and said they had better detail then the C-500, they didn't have the bass.... but that is what your sub is for... It sucks they don't have both...but either way you will get a great speaker. |
