See the logical thinking. But don't think they price match their own site. I think you have to show that X site has X film in stock for X price.

I would ask via online chat though. I once had a preorder(I'm UK based) for £15 arrive the Monday release day and on the following Monday it was already £13 online. I asked then to refund me £2 and they did.

Amazon has a preorder price guarantee. If you preorder something and it dips in price up untill release date then you get the lowest price they had it for up untill you placed the order. I really doubt it going to drop below $55 though. But it's a interesting question. I would think they would give us the lowest price and if not complaining would do the trick. Amazons customer service is usually very good.

At least I know they're selling the Limited Edition on Amazon again.

I'm most definitely going to wait until I can get a copy for at least $30 after it gets released. I'm not spending $70 for a movie that, while it sounds pretty cool, is something I haven't seen.

You get the lowest price the item goes for between the time you order and it ships. What happened in the first wave has no bearing on this wave, because the $56 price was before everyone in this second wave ordered.

I preordered in the first "wave," I was just wondering if this new listing dropped to say, 45 if I would get price matched automatically or if i'd have to contact CS. It's purely hypothetical, I'm sure it won't go under 55 and I'm definitely not complaining, I'm just curious how their site works in a case like this. I'm sure that if it wasn't automatic that CS would fix it.

The details and price of this release gets weirder and weirder with each day. Price changes, poster changes. Madness, I tell you. Madness.

If you go to the Amazon page when you're logged in, it says at the top "You purchased this item on...", which means, I guess, that they consider it the same product. So in the ridiculously unlikely event that it drops below $55, I think you would get the lower price.

Folded? That sucks.

I don't understand why some people are so surprised at the price increase on Amazon and are implying Scream Factory is "plotting" again.

When Amazon first puts something up for preorder, for the first few days it's usually always at a 30% off price, then the price goes up closer to retail cost. Closer to release date the price will go back down some.

This always especially happens with SF releases - if you don't preorder it when it is first listed, then you lose that price for awhile and it may or may not get that low again by release date.

The only difference with this is that the listing was removed for a short period of time when it first sold out - but it's still considered the same item so I'm not surprised Amazon isn't applying their standard initial 30% off anymore.

At least with Amazon's preorder price guarantee you can still preorder it now at the higher cost, and if it doesn't go back down enough for you by release date, just cancel it.

Unhappy

I really wish they would just release the director's cut and the theatrical cut together. I don't need a book/poster/extra disc of extras. I just want the two versions on blu ray at a semi decent price. I can't really justify $85 for the limited (price on Amazon.ca) but buying the cheaper version just won't feel complete. Sigh. Oh well, maybe amazon.ca will have a 1-2 day price drop like they had with the Halloween box set and I can grab a copy of the Limited.

The poster/book/extras having nothing to do with the cost. The licensing fees were high from Warner Bros and a lot of work went into essentially creating a whole new version of the film. This isn't/wasn't a case of taking what they were given and throwing it on a disk. I do agree that at $80 the price is too high but unfortunately that's just the deal we have given to us. Its not the first time, nor will it be the last. (See Demons 1 & 2, Possession, etc)

I just wish they would announce the special features to try and justify an $80 price tag....

To be fair, the price tags for both Demons movies and Zulawski's Possession are actually justified (the packaging for Possession in particular, is downright gorgeous but then again, all of Mondo Vision's limited edition sets are sights to behold). Hell, I can even justify why Aniplex of America's pricing for five limited edition volumes of Kill la Kill makes sense but Shout Tag's price tag for Nightbreed, IMO, is a bit too steep for me.

i'm in canada and bought it off the american amazon when it was 55 dollars and in some funny irony or whatnot, it ended up costing me 20 dollars less than the canadian site. and thats including the shipping, duty charges and the exchange rate they charge us.

they just recently reposted it but of course its now 71 so it ends up being more or less the same buying it on either site. but the release is far enough that i've no doubt one or both sites will lower the price a few times before it comes out.

Actually it comes to about $5 cheaper on the American site. I've pre-ordered on both sites crossing my fingers that the price will come down. What I don't get is that Amazon.com charged me about $13 for import fees for this movie, but didn't charge me any import fees for pre-ordering Krull ... hmmmm

I dunno. Maybe it cost them a lot to license the theatrical cut from Warner....

Does Amazon.com make you have $35 worth of stuff before you get free shipping???? In Canada it's only $25.
