So I just hit level 20 and my understanding to unlock 21, you need armor with light. I've been told the strike list next to the crucible or just playing mars in the way to do it.


For a game getting 5's and 6's from reviewers, I am sure enjoying this game. So Infamous Second Son gets a pass from everyone for being pretty, but this one is a 5? Crazy

It's like a whole different game once you hit twenty. I still haven't left Venus yet. So I'm definately getting my monies worth with this game.

Yeah ... Clearly not a GOTY (for me), but a 74 metacritic with some scores as low as 5 ... yeesh.

On a more positive note, someone re-created (very approximatively) the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy in game.

With the wifey out of town for a big conference (and no Workout to do), I should be able to play quite a bit more tonight startgin around 7:30pm PST (am lvl 8) and hopefully will hit a Strike at some point.

Heck, I got the guide book and I'm still asking questions as y'all can see. It is partially a numbers game too, where you have to equip your gear for the situation. Glad you can carry as many weapons as they do, unlike other games where you are allowed 2 or 3 at the most.

Watching a little of the livestream review on IGN gave me some pointers. I've gotten to like my pulse rifle a lot more, less recoil with more impact, plus even with recoil, that 3rd shot usually ends up being a headshot for a nice precision kill. Shotgun melee combos can be pretty devastating too.

As far as PvP, yeah running off on your own is pretty much suicide. I need a lot of practice which unfortunately means making whatever team I'm on suck. Most kills I've done have been by melee or by Nova Bombs. Although if you hop on that turret on the Moon, you can get some nice kills there.

There is no difference in levels technically, but of course higher level players are gonna be more experienced, and even though much of it is equaled, those higher level players have their abilities like tracking grenades along with them, so yeah it takes the same amount of shots to take each other down, but your cooldowns and abilities still remain.

While I agree that both should have gotten low scores (not just this one), SS was not hyped as the next greatest thing. Bungie did not deliver what they promised and deserve any and all flack coming their way. I played this game 13 years ago on my Dreamcast. This is a feature incomplete product that launched for $60 and it's inexcusable. But everyone will jump on the DLC and throw money at them because it'll add what should have been in the game day 1.

Since taking a more methodical approach, I've done much better...meaning ended up on the winning team a few times and getting some kills. Still more deaths than kills, though. It's seems obvious and stupd, but I started out running and gunning and I was worthless.

Good advice. I'm only at level 5 and was getting slaughtered last night when i was thrown into a game where the lowest person was level 15!

Tried it at level 6, one guy on my team was 14, and everybody else was between 20 and 23.

It was a slaughter.

Might try again this week end, if only for the bounty (5 control games).

Yeah the process is kind of weird, IMO. I just hit level 21 earlier because I acquired another rare piece of gear that has +9 light on it.

I have a 3 of the strange coins and think I might do some gear purchases from the Agent of the Nine next weekend. By then I should have enough coins to purchase some equipment. Until then a farming I will go.

I also had the sentiment that for a game of that size, the launch had been quite smooth.

I didn't have any server issues except for the first 10 minutes of playing after the midnight release.

Yeah I'm gonna treat the PvP like being in a King Fu movie, student get's ass kicked goes ff into the woods trains intensely and comes back better and stronger.

Not sure how much time I'll have to play and level up this weekend, Dodgers are in town playing the Giants, so I hope to catch up on some baseball.

So I guess I jinxed myself about not having server issues as I have them today. I wonder if that is because of the weekend. If that is the case the next couple of days may be the real test.

Game just seems very...meh. Played some co-op with friends. Matchmaking in the crucible is a joke. So much unbalance. I don't really know what to say about this one. I enjoyed the beta. The more I play this weak story, I'm just not sold. Will probably give it a bit but I'd give the game 6-7/10. It does most things solidly and it excels at nothing. I'm up to a level 20 Titan but it all seems the same to me. Already bored with the missions. Will probably trade this in at the end of the month towards an October or November game that I see myself playing more. So much hype and over promise.

I think it's a solid game myself. I know that come November it will be difficult to stay committed to this with Unity, CoD, Far Cry 4 & GTAV coming out.
