Amazon and other retailers will release the same limited box set just without the coin.

Ugh, this was what I was dreading. $63 for a 22 episode is pretty expensive considering its subpar quality. I'd much rather they just ditch the DVDs and just sell the bluray set (just like Ranma1/2) for $40.

You Americans are complaining about spending $63 with free shipping where as Canadians are going to spend about $78 CND plus whatever shipping comes to. I bet $63 doesn't sound so bad now, eh?

How do you know it is subpar quality? No one has the BD in hand yet to know for sure.

So if this trend continues does that mean season 3 part 1 will be $72.99? I'm not liking the price because if season 2 part 1 is $62.99 at right stuff I hate to see what the other stores are selling this for.

Yeah the $62.99 is on the edge of turning me off from getting this, but it seems stupid to get the first season and not contuine. I mean at that price viz could of at lease used a different layout for the box I mean the pink background with usigi/sailor moon is boring.

Agreed about the price it worries me that they will just keep upping it every ew season.
I too would like to see the other Sailors on the covers personally but i doubt that will happen.

They did that for season 1 part 2 but why can't they do that for the box? I've seen the art they had access to and the ones they're choosing for the box is boring. Also for the pice this season better include the movie if it does then that's another thing we have to shell out. And knowing Viz the movie might be $82.99 lol

Seriously. Have you not learned anything from the discussion here? Both times the quality from the streaming looked pretty close to what we've got on the bluray. The 'bluray' doesn't just magically make everything look better. And based on the streaming, the quality is worse than the first season.

And as for packaging, it seems like the first set with the box will always have Sailor Moon by herself, and part 2 will have the group together.

well this was my reaction to the price hike

I also figured it out if you add up season 1 part 1 and 2 blu Rays at $52.99 each then add season 2 part 1 at $62.99 then that's $168.97 we've spent on sailor moon daaaaaam

Spend $250 and shipping is free to Cananda.
Rather than buy Sailor Moon R by itself, add it to the cart and wait until you have enough for free shipping before you buy.

Also interesting: Australia is making it's own new SD remaster because the American HD remaster is so bad.

In an effort to deliver the best possible product we can – and in consideration of your feedback on the quality of other versions of the series available internationally – we have created our own release from scratch using high quality, remastered standard definition materials. At this stage there are no true HD (high definition) materials available for Sailor Moon and we cannot confidently create a Blu-ray release that we feel would measure up to the high standards that fans of the show deserve. Hopefully this will be addressed in the not too distant future.
The official news post has been deleted. But they made another one and said that the April release has been delayed. Maybe they are waiting for the Japanase HD remaster?

Solid advice but the CND is pretty bad at this point so I would end up spending like $315 just in order to save $20 for shipping. I don't really use rightstuf for anything else besides the one time I splurged on all the DBZ blurays and CCS.

I could also wait until Amazon offers the product but at this point, i might as well get the coin so it sets up for a nice collection once the whole thing is out.

I also can't wait to see the quality difference from the Japanese airing.

I'm surprised that we haven't seen anything at all from this new remaster: not even an advertisement or preview it's seems.

According to my maths, this actually airs, relative to the US, Monday April 06 5:30 AM EDT (4/06 18:30 JST).

The design is so basic, why not just build one?

This is the only anime I buy so I was wondering do you guys think there is any chance that the price will drop before release? I am just guessing it will based on the price of the previous season, but I could be completely wrong. I don't want to miss out on getting the coin for nothing.

With season 1, there was a price hike by about $3 whilst still on pre-order (but after the coin sold out).
