Also, I wanted to offer a quick update here today on the status of Disney’s James Cameron 4K Ultra HD pre-orders here in the States. They were originally to have started today on Amazon and elsewhere, but the pre-order start has been pushed back to next week. I’m told that the studio wants to wait until the titles are well into replication to make sure that things go smoothly. So by Wednesday next, they should be live everywhere.

for people that did the disc to digital on the abyss.. good news: it has been updated.
this is for vudu. it was sd and in pan and scann but worse it was stretched.. so you had change the format to 4:3 to watch it.

Now it's in widescreen. while it still says sd, its not.. even better news. it has transferred to movie anywhere.

Its the special edition for me.

Please report back if you find the new upgraded version on Vudu.

I recall watching the Blu-ray of The Exorcist when I first got it a few years ago. Watching it alone, my mind went back to the first time I watched it. Not that I could remember the details. But I started crying during a few scenes that weren't even worthy of crying. I don't really miss my mother because of the way she treated everyone, but those emotions are still there.

Similar to National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. I was so used to watching that at family gatherings around the holidays. The first time I tried watching it alone on Blu-ray I had to stop it less than 5 minutes in. I was overcome by the sorrow of losing everyone in my family pretty early on.


Back on topic. The rat shouldn't have been subjected to such torture for a movie. Should have used a fake rat. But I will still watch the movie.

I don’t recall much of this film, but I’m sure on the TV version that I saw they replaced the rat with a monkey.
WHY can’t the sensors just leave us alone and let us see films as they were invented!!
Maybe I’m getting this mixed up with the other monkey film with Charlestone Heston, I don’t know, but still (angry face!!!)

The best movie (The Abyss) of the bunch has the best transfer and the worst movie (True Lies) has the worst transfer. There could be a justification for that.

I wouldn't read into it. Bad taste in remastering doesn't discriminate in the least. T2 4k, Platoon 4k, and American Graffiti 4k conclusively demonstrate that.

We're on the forum page of a website dedicated to physical media waiting for the highest quality version of movies we love on 4K blu-ray. You are constantly on here defending James Cameron's honor because you lack the ability to understand that people who love these titles want the BEST versions of these titles. This place is going to have the most nitpicky people on planet earth because we expect the best and are not happy to settle for less. Will most of us still buy this on 4k disc? Yes, absolutely. That doesn't mean we won't criticize it for being worst than it SHOULD have been. All you're doing on here is complaining that the people people who should be most expected to criticize subpar offerings are doing exactly that. If you go through the hundreds of pages of these forums and still come away with the notion that "we hate what is being offered", we're "James Cameron haters", or any of that nonsense, that is on YOU because you're being overly sensitive to any and all criticism. You really need to step back and look at what you're doing on here because it's legitimately annoying as hell.
