This game seems to be pretty divisive from everything I'm seeing online. I've never been a huge FPS fan nor a PvP fan, but somehow this has gotten me into it. I don't know what Bungie plans on doing later on with their add-ons and expansions, so who knows, haters may come around or it will just confirm how they already feel. Either way, I'm having a blast with the game right now so far.

I don't think Destiny will be a flop but I can see why so many are disappointed. Heck, I'm one of those people who hated Bioshock Infinite. So go figure.

I did my first strike force last night.

Ok, I totally get the complaint about bosses being bullet sponges. If we as a group can survive for 10 minutes, I think we've proved the point. But then seeing the enemy still has 2/3rds health? Sigh.

And what's up with hiding a bonus chest after the strike force is over, giving you only 30 seconds to find it?

*EDIT* Server issues? I must be lucky, the game has been perfect for me, I haven't even had noticeable lag of any kind *knock on wood*

When I did the Devil's Lair strike in the Beta it was a long grind on the tank. Little did I know that it's vulnerability was the legs and when the vents opened up. And I guess neither did the rest of the team I was matched with we fought that thing for a good 20 minutes.The Servitor and its minions after that were a relative breeze after that.

I haven't done any of the strikes on Earth or Moon yet, but I plan to hit those soon, probably bring in some high level help to get the missions over with quicker. When I did the Devil's Lair, I was level 5 I think.

I can't speak to my allies, who were random people, but I found the weak points immediately on both the big robot and the giant servitor.

It just didn't matter. They took so many shots to down. Maybe all of our weapons just suck.

Gamespot gave Destiny a 6/10. Watching the video review, I agreed with everything and think all outlets will see a similar theme. The story presented was trash. They squandered an opportunity imo. They decided to take a single game story, maybe 2 and try cash grabbing it for 10 years.

I agree the story blows, but it blows for nearly all FPS games. Only for this one, it's suddenly a deal-breaker. I don't get that.

I'm starting to think this has the Final Fantasy XIII syndrome. Perfectly serviceable game but due to the history of the developer people hate it because it's not what they want from that dev, rather than regarding the game on its own merit.

Ppl complain about match making.. It doesnt even matter. Ive killed people twice my level. Its all about how good you are really.. Just like any online game.

I think because of how big this game is ppl are just nit picking every little thing. Not fair, because its better then Borderlands, Halo and mixes alittle of Diablo in it. I love it and almost at LVL 19.

Capturing zone c on the Moon and as soon as we have it the guy hops on his sparrow and boosts straight in to me ad I die! It was classed as "misadventure" as if I'd killed myself

I think the Gamespot review was spot on and can't really critique what he said... But i'm having a lot of fun and that's all that really matters for me. I think it's a great first step in what looks to be a long series.

I can't argue with the words, but 6/10 for a game that they say has "superb core mechanics" based on the fact that they didn't like the story and didn't like the fact that it had "repetition" is where they lose me.

I can't think of an FPS that doesn't have a mediocre story at best out of the last half-dozen years. I can't think of an FPS that isn't repetitive at all.

To me, the mechanics of an FPS are all that matters.

I honestly can't help but wonder if Destiny would not be getting higher review scores if it didn't have such a long beta, because the majority of the people I see who are sick of the repetitiveness were those who played the beta for hours and hours.

If Titanfall and Halo 4s are 9s, there is no way in hell Destiny is a 6.

I agree with you. I'm having fun with this game and I'm not usually a FPS player. Much of the criticism is about the story, but this is not the kind of game that supports story telling very well. Cutscenes are a big nuisance in a co-op game, where part of team just wants to skip them and others want tot watch them, and if it's told without cutscenes, it's impossible to follow during onscreen action.

Was that the one on Earth? I found that by accident during the strike by fallling into a hole. I would not have likely found it after the battle.

This is correct. There is no correlation that I can seen in the Crucible between an opponents level and my chance to kill them. There are minor differences in armor and recovery and weapon damage that are attributable to upgrade perks. My biggest problem is lag, which is on my side completely. Nothing like having an opponent appear out of thin air right in front of you and punch you in the face. But I've become much better. K/D is typically in the .5-1 range rather than .1-.2 like it was at the beginning.

The worst part of this game is the load times.

The low scores from reviews is really due to the hype machine. I'm enjoying my current play through but admit disappointment as this game isn't as deep in story and exploration as I thought it would be. I'm laughing though...how does this game deserve a lower score than COD games? I play cod every year but admit the campaign is really cookie cutter.
