Not everyone has the woodworking tools or craftsmanship to guarantee a finished quality result.

Plus it's only twenty bucks, so who cares?

Finally picked up Season 1 Part 2 today on DVD. (Yes, I said DVD, don't judge. Considering the Blu-Rays seem lackluster the DVDs will do just fine for me.) Anyway, now all I gotta do is watch the whole season!

I wouldn't get my hopes up too much given the varying quality of past Toei HD remasters, but I'm sure the negative reaction to Viz's upscale has everyone setting it as a bar to leap over...even though that bar is set so goddamn low to begin with.

Well you have a point about the tools. Not everyone has the proper ones.

But with the amount of woodworking that schools shove down your throat (I had to take a shop class in elementary, middle, and high school), I can't imagine craftsmanship would be a problem for something this basic.

I don't think schools still offer wood shop classes. Some schools don't even have "arts" classes anymore.

Yeah but we are all "old enough" here that I bet we all had art and shop

By the way, does anyone know where I can rent/borrow a laser engraver? I used to know a place, but they closed a few years ago. I was thinking of engraving a small metal plaque to nail to the front of the stand I'm going to build. I'll skip the plaque if I can't access an engraver.

Oh never mind, it just came to me. I'll go to a pet shop and have them engrave a dog tag for me.

While I took numerous art courses through high school, I only had a single semester of basic cover-all-the-bases industrial tech: the closest thing to a "shop" unit was building a CO2 dragster.

And as for packaging, it seems like the first set with the box will always have Sailor Moon by herself, and part 2 will have the group together.
That doesn't mean anything. Just because you think S1 looked bad does not mean R will too.

The streaming means nothing. Hell, S is out on streaming and I doubt Viz has even finished remastering R.

Season 1's quality consistently resembled that of the stream, which was not good. The stream for R looked worse and even S isn't looking so hot. There's no reason for the video release of subsequent seasons to be any different.

But then you've already confirmed that you don't give a **** about quality issues, so I don't really know why you're bothering to ask about it now.

I'm mostly buying these sets for the coins and the new dub, and down the road depending on if the Toei HD masters are priced well, I'll get them too.

I appreciate the physical extras and lossless audio. Plus this might be the only English-friendly Region A release the show will receive.

I don't even know why I respond to him.

I honestly believe he thinks that Viz remasters the video AFTER they stream it online.

I really hope that someone is ripping the remaster tomorrow. I look forward to the comparison (and after this time, I admit that the petition was a stupid idea, especially being so long before the remaster actually aired).

Yes, but the stream came out after they had already remastered the first season. R could go either way, but Viz has not even started on S yet.

This is just proof that you completely passed over what I really said and focused only on the part you disagreed with.

Nevertheless, we won't know until after the BDs are out.

Yes, they have. They're releasing the episodes on Hulu after they've gone through the remastering process.

Cause I'm lazy haha. And I don't have the tool anymore to do woolwork. Most of my tools now are mainly for fixing electronics and cars. I don't have my dremel and saws anymore.

Here is something for Count Dracula to read: http://www.awn.com/mag/issue3.12/3.1...amididvnr.php3

It is from the 90's, but it is still relevant as f***.

The stream for S is already running: they're four episodes in.

Are you seriously suggesting that Viz puts out the stream before doing any work on their remaster, despite the fact that the Blu-ray/DVD for S1 looked identical to the stream? Is this really how you think it works?
