Not what I was expecting at all. Really good film. I love Ben Foster and his work & Woody is really good as well.

4/5
Good to know! I'm looking forward to seeing both.

A must watch/own blu.

ps: The Blind Side sucked as much as the most suckery sucker ever sucked.

Black Book seems interesting...I'll have to check it out. Anyone else not shocked with seeing that Greg Maltz gave another of his typical agenda-filled scathing reviews?

As for the Blind Side, you must be crazy! It was far from a poor movie.

Snow Angels (dvd)

Indie flick with Sam Rockwell and Kate Beckinsale.

Film: 2 stars (out of 4)

Not a very good film at all. The direction, editing, pacing, and writing were all very poor. The director used odd camera angles and panning shots that were distracting and unnecessary. The editing and pacing were very strange to me, with numerous small scenes of little or no importance added in, slowing down the pace. The writing was cliche and conveyed zero theme. The romantic sub-plot with the teenager was pointless, as was the sub-plot involving his mother and father. About ten minutes of story thrown into an hour and fifty minutes.

I really found there to be no point to the film at all and its only saving grace was Rockwell, who was very good as usual (Beckinsale was a disappointment). The film was just very indie cliche filled and is one of the poorer examples of the story we've seen numerous times before. A film that's somewhat similar but is FAR superior is In the Bedroom.

As for replay value, do not worry. I think most people would give the movie a 5 but would not be watching it very often, like you would do Avatar or Harry Potter. It's like Schindler's List, yes amazing but you can't see it too often cause it's just too hard to deal with.
Yea you are probably right about that, its definitely not the kind of movie you just decide to pop in when you feel like watching something.

I thought about giving it a 4.75, but I decided the lack of replay value wouldn't affect my actual rating of the film, more of a footnote

....though I'm considering going to .25 increments for my ratings as I've had been torn between several .0 and .5 ratings lately

Zack and Miri Make a Porno - Did I ever say I cant stand Seth Rogen?? Haha.....................well I have to say I actually enjoyed this film! Pleasant surprise as before the viewing of this film I have had bas taste with Rogen. I was always interested in this film but my hate for Rogen delayed the viewing. Glad to have finally caught it and it was not a bad film at all. Very funny in parts and really got a kick out of the film. Much better than that Pineapple Express crap! Overall rating 3.5/5 Got Em!!

Star Trek: Nemesis

Not that best of the NG movies but still pretty enjoyable certainly more than Generations and Insurrection. This makes a good send-off for a beloved character. Rating 4/5

Casino Royale

A good movie introduction to the new James Bond. I think he fits in quick nicely but Connery is still my fave. Lots of action and intense scenes. Really like this one alot. Rating 4.5/5

Watched "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" via Netflix. It was one I wished I watched more as a kid, but it never seemed like I got enough of it.

These days, I found it decent. I enjoyed the film-noir inspired story, the classic Hollywood setting, and the imagery. The period reproduction is pretty slick, and the combination of animation and live-action is very convincing (even to this day). It's definitely a high-quality film with an enjoyable setting. My only gripe is that the zany cartoon comedy never really made me laugh out loud that much (although all the various "cameos" were amusing).

4/5 (entertainment: 3.5/5, story: 4/5, film: 4.5/5, i/e: 0/5)

Haaaa Haaaaaa Haaaaaaa at your avatar Czar. 28 years ago I used to Jones on that game until 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning... when I had to get up for work at 5:00. Thats back when they made them unbeatable...but we just kept trying over and over and over......................

Had to give them up. Probably better now that they have stories and goals that can actually be achieved.

Just watched One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest on TCM hi-def. Still a great movie after all these years and is certainly an attention grabber. All of it's Oscars were well deserved.

I played it on the very sophisticated Mattel Intellivision console.

I'm 50. The one I could beat was Dungeons and Dragons. I also won $100.00 in a baseball tournament.

Speed

God i love this movie. it'ss extremely entertaining, original, fast paced, fun and has a great villain. sure, the writing is dated and some of the acting is... well, Keanu Reeves is in it. that's all i have to say although i must say i believe this is the best performance i have seen him in (note that i haven't seen The Matrix yet).

visuals are prety amazing on the blu too.

as far as action films go, i believe this is right up there with the likes of Die Hard and others, although it is of a different calibur (lacking violence and more of a thriller / suspense action film than a "murdering, gun blazing kill spree").

5/5
