I found WB's US CoF to be a very well made, stacked special edition. Not sure Hammer could do anything to make me double dip on that. Dracula, on the other hand, I got the WB UK version which is very good. However, if they could improve on that, then I might be interested.

You’re getting mixed up.

In the U.K. Dracula was released by Lionsgate and it’s still available.

It’s the US release under the title Horror of Dracula that came from Warner.

Guardian review of the cinema reissue of the Quatermass Xperiment.
Note it only covers the film and not the UHD boxset.

Mine arrived and I like the patch. I was expecting it to be the size of a 50p piece but it was about the size of the base of a 500ml Coke bottle.

I wouldn't pay a tenner for it, but it a fun giveaway and I hope Hammer persists with these.

(Best ever giveaway I've had was from the late lamented Network. First however many to order their Goodies box set with books and tote bag got a card hand-signed by Graeme, Bill and [also late and much lamented] Tim saying they were now official members of the Goodies. I maintain this is legally binding.)

Ah. Thank you. Yes. Still, looking forward to an ultimate edition!

I don't think any of my Hammer pre-orders have shipped ahead of release which is quite annoying. Indeed, I'd stop ordering direct if it wasn't for the pre-order freebies (even then on occasion I've had to chase Hammer up for not posting stuff).

The Quatermass films are widely considered by fans to be top tier. So, they already are. And Captain Kronos is a cult favourite that had never been done justice on home video and it sold out. Hammer’s doing just fine with these releases so far. And I’m glad that the lesser-known and less highly regarded films like Four Sided Triangle and Shatter are getting some love in their less-deluxe-but-still-deluxe versions.

If they port over the existing excellent WB CoF transfer in the same choice of aspect ratios, along with all existing extras and some new ones, and the same lovely packaging and thick book as the other mega-deluxe versions, I’m definitely in. For Dracula, they’ll need to include ALL extant uncensored footage like the Anolis release did, and fix the audio editing during the climax and make sure the colors are spot on, before I’ll bite. Otherwise I’ll just stick with the Anolis.

These have never been released on Blu to my knowledge, so I’m hoping that some of them might be able to be rescued by Hammer, through licensing deals when necessary, SHE at the very least fer chrissakes. And I’d love to finally see The Mystery of the Mary Celeste make it to at least HD, even if it’s just included as an extra on another title, if they don’t find it worthy enough for a standalone release.

United Kingdom lesser releases

well my QUATERMASS set will be with us on monday, went with hmv this time.
i saw both FOUR SIDED TRIANGLE and SHATTER for the first time with these sets.considering ive had a copy of TRIANGLE as a extra on one of my other hammer discs-i never got around to watching it-i didnt think it was that bad and the extras helped...But SHATTER i was expecting the worst after reading about it on here and elsewhere but i loved it and enjoyed the extras too.
i need FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN it is one of my favourite hammer frankenstein films.
i know these sets arent cheap but as a lifelong hammer fan i cant get enough

My very detailed list on the first page, has every film, who owns it and what the best release is out in the world. There's a lot of Hammer stuck in SD

I know; my list is specifically genre-oriented and the ones I’m most interested in seeing rescued. A personal priority list, if you will. But many thanks for your detailed list, a very helpful reference indeed. Although I’d have to disagree on your best choices for She and The Nanny being the UK DVDs, which would suffer from the incorrect audio pitch issue due to PAL speedup. The US DVDs are free of that nonsense.

Hell is a City is a cracking film. The DVD is watchable, but a decent BD is long overdue.

SHE, HYSTERIA, CRESCENDO, and MOON ZERO TWO could all be released by Warner Archive tomorrow if they really wanted to.
