I wonder if
[Show spoiler]Peter Quil will be the son of J-Son Quil, leader of the Galaxy.
I would assume so to make things complex for the sequel.

I'm pretty sure he'll show up in the film. Gunn teased his space suit on twitter.

I must have missed that one. Do you have a link?

Edit: Just saw it. Flark! That's Flarking Awesome! Glad to see he's likely going to appear.

I typically have very little interest in Marvel movies anymore; didn't like Avengers, either Iron Man film, any of the X-men films, nor the most recent Spider-man film; I thought the Daredevil & Elektra films were horrible. I still haven't seen either Thor movie, nor have I watched any episodes of Agents of Shield...

However, based on the trailers, this forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy flick looks excellent! I'm actually surprised that they're making a film of these extremely obscure Marvel characters - outside of comic fans, I doubt many people have even heard of these guys. In fact, I consider myself a somewhat well-read fan of at least older Marvel comics (though admittedly I've read very little from the '90's-on), and the only time I remember seeing any of these characters is an old '80's Hulk issue with an appearance by Rocket Racoon...I think not knowing much about these comics may help me enjoy the film more, since I won't have any pre-conceived ideas about the characters...

I even may see it on it's release, and I haven't seen a Marvel movie in the theater since the first Iron Man back in '08 (which I was dissapointed by, but that's another thread)...

Call it a hunch, but I predict you'll hate this one too.

Actually, I'm 100% sure I'll like GOTG - this is just based on the two trailers. The reason I didn't like any of the other Marvel flicks was because they changed too much from the comics (which I'm a big fan of).

Conversely, I have almost 0 familiarity with GOTG - and, the trailers make this look like a fun sci-fi popcorn flick, with elements of Star Wars, Star Trek, Farscape, etc., all while being somewhat original. So, there is no question in my mind that I will enjoy this. Since I never read the comics & know very little about the characters, I don't have any pre-conceived ideas about the film.

Also enjoy the old-skool rock soundtrack; hopefully they will keep much of this for the film itself...

Didn't Gunn say that Rooker was going to be in this second trailer? God I love those two.

So does anybody know if Guardians of the Galaxy

[Show spoiler] will tie into the Avengers' Universe somehow? I assume it's all in one concurrent Marvel Universe, but will there be a crossover?

[Show spoiler]The film is set in the same universe as the other Marvel films and Thanos, a character from this film is the main villain in The Avengers 3.

Based on the events in Thor 2 and the mid/post credits scenes in Captain America 2,
[Show spoiler]it appears that Thanos is assembling the Infinity Gauntlet. Most likely the GOTG will come across a few of the pieces.

If Marvel is doing what I think/hope they are doing then The Avengers 3 could be the most epic film ever created. What I think will happen is the GoTG will show up to help The Avengers and if we are lucky Marvel will crossover The Defenders which feature Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones from the Netflix series they are doing to also help and while I don't think everyone from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be in it, I would bet Coulson will be. The final battle of the film could be one of the most glorious things ever and it will take all of them to win it.

So disappointed to not see the new trailer in front of X-Men DOFP today! I really hope it was just my cinema because this film looks great.
