Got it yesterday! I was holding out to see if we ever get a complete edition in NA like Japan did. I would have been more than happy to double dip.

Haven't played this in a while. I heard there's one boss that's even more ridiculous than any in the chalices. I will need to git gud again.

This game was pretty easy playing solo offline. As always, my 1st playthrough is always without guides and videos. Beat it leveling naturally and no farming. Lvl 82 +10 after dlc. Only died once to a few bosses and the main game was easy aside from the defiled dungeon. Those bosses took me 10-20 times.

This was the least appealing Souls game to me. Felt like an action game similar to GOW. Lots of spamming Dodge or R1. Im glas this sold a lot of units as Demons Souls, DS1, DS2, and DS3 are my top 4 games in the past ten years.

It just doesnt have as much replay value as the other Soul games. Owell. The world, music, and some of the boss fights were nice. On my 3rd playthroughand probably wont even platinum this game even though I only have one ending left. Never felt this way with any other Soul games

Way behind the curve, but I'm just about finished with the old hunters dlc. Then I have a few more bosses in the main game.

Has Jedi Fallen Order's exciting and challenging combat been the trigger? Or was I always destined to give it another chance? Or maybe I've just become a better player in past years? When I defeated all Valkyries in God of War I felt like a million bucks. Or perhaps Demon's Souls stunning-looking remake on PS5 prompted a re-appraisal even though I'm not planning to get a PS5 yet?

But the fact is that a few days ago I began playing Bloodbourne again after giving it a few feeble attempts back when it came out. I remember those initial levels. I was mortified of dying, but especially of losing all my hard-won blood echoes. I didn't get that concept. I admired the game back then, but it didn't seem my idea of a good challenge. I recall those initial moments in the town square with the funeral pyre and how many foes there were.

I seem to be doing much better now even though I'm still way in the early stages of the game. But it is supremely thrilling and hacking away is just colossally satisfying. The atmosphere is so thick you can cut it with a knife although there is some stutter and it gets jittery sometimes when making a quick turn. Which is fair enough, game is 5 years old, but looks great all the same.

And I understood you can spend blood echoes on leveling up and such so losing them forever becomes far less of a nuisance and an occurrence. Plus blood vials are in abundance so I'm literally feeling pretty secure....for the moment.

Killed the cleric beast today, first boss battle. On my second attempt.

Sometimes you need a reset on how to play these games ... the hack and slash attitude of most fighting games/action games really will not suit well in these series. once you re wire your brain to stop thinking like that , these games become much easier to play .. not beat but play ... I had that same issue with demons souls ... i threw it away and only after playing and beating dark souls was I able to go back and play and enjoy finishing demons souls

Goodintentions, feels exactly so. Killed Father Gascoigne today, also 2nd attempt, I'm dying quite rarely and I can usually reclaim my echoes if I do die somewhere.

Also, save lanterns are now popping up like mushrooms after the first few hours.

Installed and started playing. I had a hell of a time trying to kill that creature in the clinic!!

I had to go online to learn how to equip my left & right hand weapons.

You weren't supposed to kill that first creature I was told. I mean, you could try, but that's great about the game. You don't need to kill all beasts to proceed. Once you're powered up a bit more he's sorta easy. As for me, I advanced pretty far in the game I think but then stopped gaming for a while and now I'll have to pick up where I left off. I'd like to be able to say I completed this so maybe I should get on this. Truth be told, I was stuck, not sure where to go to. There was this temple like building with a door but when I got close to the door this green ghostlike hand appeared, picked me up and I guess sucked the life out of me.

Ooooops, I had no idea. It took almost 30 tries before I finally killed it.
I thought that my experience with DS2 & 3 would make playing this game easy, but apparently not. I need to get a better understanding of the mechanics/nuances of this game as I play this more.

I watch walkthrough vids when I get stuck in an area.

What totally defeated me when I tried the game the first time was the idea of losing all that I had acquired, in the case of the game blood echoes especially.

I could not grasp this concept and think that it was fun. I was literally afraid to advance in the game, taking it way too careful. But the thing is, you gotta get in there and be prepared to die so that you can learn from it. Not that recklessness is the right approach.

And those blood echoes, I had no idea you could go back to a lantern and immediately start spending those blood echoes to level up. So once I did that I had no fear of losing them since I was in fact already spending them for a good reason. And you can quickly build up a nice supply of them by killing the same enemies over and over again.

And it happened very rarely that I died and was unable to re-acquire them with my next playthrough (because I died again) since many enemies can be avoided so that you can go straight to where you lost your blood echoes the previous time.

EDIT: I try to avoid walkthroughs. So I did some googling moments ago and maybe the forbidden woods is the way to go. No idea where they are, but I like my clues to be vague enough.

Your experience reminded me of when I first played Dark Souls 3. I had no idea what those (collected) souls were meant for. I did not redeem my souls & upgrade my attributes until the 3rd boss fight. I was having such a difficult time playing the game.

I don’t like looking for tips, but unfortunately I am not that skilled. I was watching a lot of vids for DS2 DLC areas.

Defeated 2 bosses yesterday. I am stoked! I was mostly farming, exploring Central Yharnam & trying to get a feel of my character. In DS2, I used my shield a lot to absorb enemy hits, but I don’t have that in this game. This will take some time to get adjusted to.

[Show spoiler]

I had to use all 20 of my Molotovs on this one.

[Show spoiler]

Once again, Molotov Cocktails were my best friend.

Defeated another boss. It took me awhile to get here because I was exploring and farming in Cathedral Ward. I’m using the Hunter’s Axe and I did find a wooden shield, but I haven’t tested its durability.

Defeated another boss. This was a weird boss fight.

What I don’t like about this game is that I need to repair my weapon constantly. Thankfully, it doesn’t cost a lot of echoes.

I remember those boss fights very well. I would say that the first one, Cleric Beast, was easier than I thought considering his size. Then, Father Gascoigne, was much smaller but a bit more difficult. He was less predictable. Vicar Amelia was a tough one and that last one was indeed unusual. Almost leisurely one might say, but still deceptively tricky.

I have advanced myself, found the entrance to the forbidden woods (tip, you have to defeat Vicar Amelia, which you did). I had found that entrance before but could not enter and then forgot about it until a few days ago.

I’m starting to get a better understanding of the mechanics of this game, My vials don’t reset at checkpoints, which is a disappointment. I noticed that some enemies do not spawn. I am constantly pressing my R3 button in dark areas to lock onto enemies that I can’t see.

I need to do more research on Insight & Madman’s Knowledge.

I am having fun so far!
