No, I'm saying streaming does not look even close to what it does on disc. There are multiple reasons why the R episodes look like **** on Hulu. We won't know how they will look on disc until we actually get the discs.

That is all I'm saying.

Now if you want to see a piss poor HD remaster, check out the remaster of Yu-Gi-Oh! that is currently airing in Japan. My god, it seems more like they just cropped the image and didn't actually remaster a thing.

I think he does!

Accordingly to his logic, Hulu & online streamers are lucky son of a guns who don't have to watch SM with Viz's remastering.

I may be regretting this, but what are the multiple reasons?

Toei's master airs in 5 minutes! (Link works with a Japanese VPN)

So, Toei's remaster is an upscale, but is still handled a lot better than what Subatomic Digital did for Viz. Toei even redid the text credits for the Intro/Outro

There does appear to be a little more footage on the edges of the image.

But other than that yeah its pretty obviously an upscale.

I agree, but at least you can see some definition on the lines, not like the Viz "cof cof" hmmm should I call it remastered version?

Doesn't look flawless, but looks miles better than Viz and looks as good as it needs to considering its age and likely lack of original materials available.

There is nothing to suggest that original materials are not available for a proper HD transfer to be performed. Toei are just cheap. Whilst this is far and away superior to Viz's dung heap of an upscale, it still isn't as good as the Italian DVDs. Will stick with them.

So in the end, the Toei "remaster" was just a slightly better upscale. After seeing that, I'll fine with Viz's set, since the Toei upscale is only a bit better.

People who watched the stream are also saying that Toei's master doesn't have the ghosting or aliasing problems, and the colors aren't oversaturated.

Is there any Rightstuf coupon out there that would make this a couple bucks cheaper?

I will agree that Toei's video does look better than Viz's, but not enough for me to even worry about it.

Based on your posting record, it's likely you'd say the same about comparing old 50mb RealVideo .rm files from the late '90s and Toei's remaster.

Pity there isn't a "MarginallyBetterThanVHS.com" forum out there for you to post at...

When RealNetwork tried suing Apple over the original iPod for having DRM, my first thought "that company is still in business, Real Player sucked, how can they still be in business?" Everyone I spoke to had the same reaction.
