Anyone on here interested in making a Blu-Ray cover for The Pagemaster (specifically based on the 1995 VHS release)? I love that artwork.

Photoshop. You can download "actions" that you install in PS that create the various styles of 3D cover previews. Most of the cover sites have them (instructions are included). Uncovered.Name has a couple and they're free to dl with registration.

Disappointing that these covers are gated behind a paywall, like many so good covers here.

Do you mean posted on sites that you have to pay a membership fee? If so, uncovered.name is a place I host at that is free to join and you don't have to pay to download. I also encourage people to pm me if they want another option.

edit: Mikezilla3k beat me to it!

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate what you guys are doing in general - but why should I register at ANOTHER forum and community as well when I'm already here? What's the point of it? Just upload your covers to imgur, mediafile, google and so on and be done with it. I don't get the whole extraction-thing what you guys do - and in honesty, it's annoying and frustrating beyond imagination when you simply want to look for some covers and there are whole communities behind it who gatekeep it for either a fee or want to move their stuff away from an easy accessible community while they don't even have the copyrights and licenses to do it anyway.

I went through half of the topic with friends yesterday and only 3/10 of the stuff here is easily accessible so far. A friend of mine called the topic also "a wank-off from talented people to pet their own ego" which is kinda true. Another friend argued that this wasn't about celebrating classic movies, it's about selling services. We appreciated the people who just have stored all their covers on a single imgur page or their personal homepage which made it a joy to browse it through. Compared to custom video game cover-subreddits these movie communities are really frustrating to deal with.

OK, I'll bite. We get this sort of post about once a year over here, and I can't help but comment.

Speaking for myself, a big reason why I don't just "upload [my] covers to imgur, mediafile, google and so on and be done with it" is that I don't want people grabbing them and uploading them somewhere for profit points, leeching off of my efforts.

I used to upload to cover sites many years ago, but found it very unsatisfying as I got absolutely no feedback and no sense of the work being appreciated. I might as well have flushed the files down the toilet. I put a lot of time and effort into my covers, and the appreciation and comments from forum members here is the main reason I keep doing it. It makes me feel good when people tell me they like what I do. (I'm strange that way.) Handing copies out personally to people who ask IS petting my own ego, I admit, but if the only distribution model available was the one you preferred, I would have stopped doing this a long time ago.

I share all my work for free, even though it takes me hours upon hours in front of the computer to make them. All I ask in return is a short and friendly PM. If that is too "annoying and frustrating beyond imagination" for you then I really don't think you truly "appreciate what you guys are doing in general."

P.S. If you see any of my covers you like, just send me a PM.

glad to hear you haven't 'retired' from custom cover life!

any chance you will showcase any 4K-UHD covers perhaps a small hint for the upcoming Back to the Future Trilogy. I have the ones you made years back for the BD releases. Keep'em coming you work is very much appreciated!

Thank you for putting this into words Nissen. I may still upload to a couple of cover sites, but I always offer people the chance to PM me for a free link to the cover without having to join another forum.

You're speaking for a lot of us creators here, Nissen, and its pure truth.

It's not a great feeling seeing your work on another site with a price tag on it. Had this happen recently to one of my more popular sets and its largely turned me off creating covers entirely. I still do one here and there and have some planned for the future, but when I do, the hi-res files won't be available without a PM request.

I can't relate to your last sentiment more.

These are fantastic.

It's too bad both films are on one disc, otherwise I'd love to add them to my shelves.

I suppose I could purchase a second copy just so I didn't have an empty case.

Anyway - these look terrific.

Just out of curiosity, but in you guys' opinions, how do you organize the James Bond movies? Do you organize them by first letter, by the year they came out, put under "J", or put under the number "0"? I'm looking for some ideas and I hope I can get some help.

I'll consider it, thanks.

Besides, I'll let the discussion go because after writing nearly a whole A4-page of quotes I recognized that it's simply a communication issue. There should be a rule where artists have to make a statement about their covers and if someone is approachable or not. This would be the most sensitive way to handle the situation from an outsider's perspective instead forcing people into another rabbit hole despite being already registered to Blu-Ray.com. Secondly, I'm an (game) cover-maker myself which got recognized by game directors in the past. I simply don't share your sentiment to be "rewarded" by people because we're using licensed stuff without anyone's approval. We should be glad that nobody is kicking our butts.

I've never understood the issue some folks have with the idea of an empty case sitting in your collection. I must have about 100. The option to display the art while you watch the film outweighs this issue for me.

Look who's wanking off now

But seriously, the studios and license holders don't bother with us as no one is making any profit here. Would be like swatting mosquitos.

Are there really any cover designers on here that are not approachable? Not that I'm aware of. All of us offer the option of sharing our covers via PM or direct link.
