Believe it or not, I'm still stuck in the 19th century with my seemingly endless viewings of American history documentaries; none of them have Atmos audio.

You will be stuck in a daze once you finish Twin Peaks. It really is something, although very very different to the last two series. The soundtrack is great imo.

Good luck with the new home. Hopefully you have a great space to set up your system.

Nothing has changed except for a temporary, or limited, access to commercial theaters. I believe Octagon put it best in another thread: someone will put seats in a front of a screen. If existing theaters go bankrupt, someone will take their place as soon as it is profitable to do so. Studios make tons of money on their theatrical exhibitions and they are not going to just give that up.

In time, people will forget about this pandemic; hell, too many are paying it no mind now. People will resume doing all that they enjoy, including concerts, cinemas, and monster truck rallies.

In the meantime, I am going to continue to make the best of it. I have thousands of discs to watch as well as streaming access. I am as entertained now as I was before the Great Plague of 2020.

Relax and enjoy the now; there's much fun to still be had.
I think streaming and physical can co-exist. There's no need for one to cancel the other out. It's a stupid debate and always will be.

Don't really have a system yet but I will finally have my own man cave room. Not very big but it will allow me to start crafting a system. I really want to go with a 4K projector but my budget may limit me to a 75" TV instead. We shall see!

They do co-exist and IMHO they will continue to do so.

For most of us that do both we have a problem when posters say streaming quality = disc quality. Objective and subjective data says otherwise.

For anyone with UHD Netflix, watched episode 1 of a new series Warrior Nun in UHD with Atmos sound. The data rate was 11.44 Mbps, so I checked the Netflix servers speed and it was 220 Mbps via a Nvidia Shield Pro. It has been several weeks since I used Netflix and the last check of UHD content 15.1 Mbps.

Nothing clickbait about the article. You clearly did not read it. You sound like one of those outraged Facebook comment posters who never read the article. He never even said what that poster said at all.

I finished my buying commitment, again, with the Disney Movie Club. I had 6 Disney 4K titles arrive today: A Bug's Life, Frozen II, Moana, Ratatouille, Toy Story 4 and Up.

Now I am trying to decide if the 4 Avengers movies are worth owning on 4K...there's always something to ponder.

I'm not outraged; it takes a lot to boil my blood and the ramblings at The Digital Conniption Fit do little more than make me . I'm just not a fan of Bill Hunt and I did not read his article because I feel that the vast majority of his stuff is just sensationalist clickbait and, well, I refused to take his latest bait.

I am also tired of his constant begging for money. He's a damn cyber panhandler. If his work had merit, his website would sustain itself without the constant plea for donations.

However, I am in no way surprised that the person who summarized his article misrepresented it as his reading comprehension is all but non-existent.

And I hardly need Bill Hunt's advice to buy more discs.

Congratulations on your new home! I hope you are very happy there.

Remember to drop hints that 4K discs and blu-rays make for awesome housewarming gifts.

Flyry gave up the quality train as soon as he went digital. Not surprised he is trying to justify his move now. Those of us that love quality will always seek out Blu-ray/UHD. My discs are going nowhere over the next decade, can we say the same about digital?

Regarding Game of Thrones 4K Complete Set, HBO has stated they are working on 4K Content for HBO Max (which I get free), so it will be hard to justify $200 for something I can stream free (even tho the disc is better PQ and AQ, I know, I know). Maybe I'll ask for the discs for Christmas or something

HboMax isn’t 4K at all.

And if it ever did offer 4K streaming it would be with 90% reduction in file size from the UHD disc.

I get hbomax free also but that about what it’s worth.

I already preordered the Game of Thrones 4K set

I don't know anyone that watches GoT over and over. To be honest if Witcher had seven seasons that would be more interesting to watch on video . GoT started to go down hill when they went forward without the story coming from the author.

So yeah GoT has Dragons, but Witcher has the Witches!

PS make GoT seasons available on 4K separately. I have 1, 8
