Really the hardest thing about Oryx to me is the fact that if you just slightly mess up and don't damage him enough you automatically die and start over; when I did it last weekend that's what wiped us far more often than any enemies did.

Damn! Can you die? Because if you died during Crota it was a wipe for the whole team.

that arc burn on that strike is absolutely brutal. FYI, it does apply to the lighting bolts from the environment. I was watching one of my clan leaders try and solo it, like he does every week, and he simply couldn't get past the long hallways.

During other parts of the encounter, yeah, you can die and revive each other. But there's a point (several times) when the entire team needs to fire at Oryx's chest, and if you don't do enough collective damage within those couple seconds, the entire team wipes. So you've gotta be really careful to have high impact weapons and to also know when his chest is opening so you don't miss it and do less of your share of damage

Grinding is a way of life.

Grinding for something specific is fine, it's the "random" part that throws some people. Like I mentioned earlier with the raid rewards, you get random perks and random stats so it's not just grinding for a chest piece, it's grinding several trying to get something that is useful for your play style. I am a big Final Fantasy fan and I can handle running in circles for 500 hours because I know what is coming.

Bungie made some progress with the quests for exotics and things, I like knowing that I can do X and get X, but they screwed up the raid rewards in my opinion.

Did the Three of Coins get nerfed again? I have been leveling up my Titan all morning by doing level 36 strikes and haven't had a single exotic drop. Now that I think of it I have only had 1 legendary drop.

Titan bubble helps out a lot when things get really hairy at the beginning I'd recommend two Titan bubble makers.

All I have right now is a 296 Sleeper that is my highest exotic, well I have a 298 Hawkmoon but I doubt I'd want to use that.

Definitely not Hawkmoon for Oryx himself, I wouldn't think; a high impact sniper rifle or machine gun are generally what I've heard suggested, or Touch of Malice if you happen to have one (which I'll be trying out tonight)

My 3 nightfalls sucked but at least I was able to get 310 Hunter raid boots Also got dupe 303 boots so ill use those for the reject Warlock.

Plus a 305 Raid Machine gun final!!!

I don't know about Final Fantasy, never played. But I used to play WoW and I spent a lot of time in raids and dungeouns doing the same missions over and over again hoping for specific drops.

You need to make better sacrifices to RNGesus. Try slaughtering a fatted calf.

Watched the video on how to get this and it looks like part of the quest is to complete this Raid which I have not done, however I do think I have the quest for it.

I guess I don't feel like the raid rewards are that much different. You could run it 30 times before and not get what you want. You can run it 30 times now and not get what you want. Getting boots with poor perks now, is the same as gettting no boots, then. That part of it has not changed. Now, though, what's worse, is that once you get what you want, you have to go and grind for coins and engrams, hoping to get something to infuse into the piece you want to keep, instead of just running circles for spirit bloom or relic iron or helium.

Your good then, I took my 1000 to 310 since I cant get a damn raid sniper

Raid is mostly sniper dependent until you get a ToM.

Warpriest, Golgy, witches, Oryx all love being sniped

I have a 308 1000 yard stare and I was doing identical damage to teammates with 310 black spindles during Warpriest and Golgodouche, and i had an extra round.

I use Hawkmoon for everything and it does decent damage vs. Oryx.

I look at it this way. By the time you get to the raid you probably have gear that meets your needs, and you like, but it's it's stuck between 295 and 299.

If you run the raid and you get gear drops that don't have perks you like, at a minimum they've given you infuse fuel to lift the gear you already like up to a higher light level. Get boots with poor perks? Big deal, burn them into the boots you've been using effectively and now they're lvl 305, and you're character is stronger anyways.

Under the previous system you were stuck with whatever perks you got.
