Thanks for posting this, Joe. Just ordered from JPC too. I ordered the first one too (2D since 3D is nowhere to be found). I can’t watch a sequel without seeing the first one. I’ll let my TV auto-convert it.

Default The zThree Musketeers 3D

Watched this today and thought it was silly, light-hearted fun. 3D was good (mostly moderate with some strong moments).

Top Gun

Medium

Pros:
- Excellent layering
- Great depth
- Bright movie

Cons
- Pops don't extend out much

Movie: Enjoyed it after so many years of not seeing it. Stuff I didn't catch back then I caught now
[Show spoiler]like why Goose died.
. It's not the best of movies but really shines on aerial scenes which is what we came to see for anyway. Pleasantly surprised to see Meg Ryan here and oh the Top Gun high fives again which some of us probably tried back then

Oh and the music was great as well.

Journey To The West: The Demons Strike Back (JTTWTDSB)

Strong

Pros:
- All
- Red Boy pop-out

Cons:
- Wished it had a few slow-mo pops

Movie: Found out from Wiki that JTTW is one of 4 most important novels in China and was published as early as 1529. The movie is a sequel which I also watched. I was happy with this seeing Shu Qi every now and then. She was the main reason why I held off buying this sequel as she was main cast ( I didn't even know she would be appearing in spots, so again, that was another win for the movie).

The visual are so over-the-top but it worked. You could really correctly guess that Stephen Chow made this movie in terms of the comedy and the visuals.

In the credits, I saw Mengke Bateer who I know was an NBA player. Found out he played Sandy.

This movie looks great but I have never been able to find a disc for it while I've been in the UK from anywhere in the world.

Jurassic world, one of my favourites from the franchise, good film, excellent 3D brightness, colour, depth and layering.
PS, I just love a woman running away from a dinosaur in sexy heels!

Same here, I keep conflating it with the Charlie Sheen version and forgetting about it. As much fun as ole "Tiger Blood" is, and the rest of the cast was pretty good, the plot to his version isn't "winning".

After reading here of the golden/silver age 3D research showing that a large swath of the population cannot see an airplane popping out of the screen, for what seemed to be reasons of verisimilitude, was Top Gun converted with that limit in mind?

I seriously doubt they were aware of Arch Oboler's research for Space Vision and The Bubble.

I'm wondering if part of my problem with popout could be along the same subconscious lines, that I expect 24 fps motion "in" the screen but objects "out" of the screen should be more fluid in motion? Maybe not.

Though if the converters for Top Gun weren't aware of the research done regarding popout for airplanes then it's a shame that they didn't go all in on making the Jets pop out.

Just watched Lego ninjago movie.

Maybe the funniest of the series with many one liners that would go over the heads of children.

Wonderful 3D with one segment having objects protrude above and below the letterbox black bars.

Highly recommended.

I was surprised how much I liked this one. I would have skipped it entirely if not for the 3D release.

Just bought gog at the Kino sale.

Hubby and I finally watched Star Wars Rogue One last night now that we've seen all of the MCU movies (except Shang Chi. We're waiting on a visit from family to have a viewing party)

My opinion on the 3D is that it has fine depth but not particularly strong. But that really didn't matter. we were both taken in by the story. I really cared about these characters. They are complex and feel so human.
The cinematography is superb.

I haven't enjoyed a Star Wars movie this much since The Empire Strikes Back.
(I sold my copy of The Force Awakens without regrets)

But damn, I didn't expect that ending. I kept thinking about it even today, much like I did after watching 47 Ronin.

ROGUE ONE is pretty good, especially for the new SW films. I think the much maligned SOLO is the best of all the new ones, followed by ROGUE ONE, and then all the rest somewhere below.

With the film in 3D, I'm doubly disappointed that the scene where Jyn Erso faces off against the TIE fighter was cut from the film. I also would have liked for the character to have been tweaked to fit the actress, as Felicity Jones playing a 23 year old character just didn't jibe.

I liked how the film leaned into the fan observation that the Rebel Alliance might be "the good guys" but they don't have the moral high ground. While the ending was fun, I found it pretty jarring to go from it right into ANH.

How was the 3D in the record room, or when looking down from space onto the record planet?
