Wouldn't think of ignoring you dawnofthediscs. Just been super busy lately with everything going on with the new partnership with Bill Osco and Dark Force just acquired a great new location which has taken up a lot of time. But to answer your question of course we are limited to the titles we are able to acquire but that is a pretty large scope of titles. Now that we have been doing this business for the last six months, not including the three months of set up, we have advanced considerably and business operations have changed quite a bit. First after initial dealings with a major distributor to the stores, Dark Force has opted to control the distribution ourselves through the Dark Force store. Second, after learning quite a bit about the transfer and restoration process we have decided to only take titles we feel we can go all out on as opposed to the ones we feel we would not be able to get optimal quality. We would rather have a smaller line of higher quality collectables that a lot of garbage releases. And last we do choose titles that I personally am a fan of and am honored to be able to revive, restore and reinsert back into cinema history. Such as COP KILLERS. It is a huge honor and thrill to have been able to track down a great print and now go all out on the restoration and extras so that the new release gets the major attention it deserves. That is almost more satisfying to me than making a ton of money on the release. So the answer is absolutely YES we are only taking titles that we really have an affinity for which makes the rest of our job including the promotion a hell of a lot easier. We got lucky with COP KILLERS cause there isn't another title I would have rather had. Hope that answers your question.

Demon Dave

It was also a redundant question as every indie DVD label operates the same; they try to get potentially profitable licenses they think their customer base would be interested in and then market them through a variety of ways (building up the films, new transfers, special packaging, extras, etc). Dark Force isnt any different in this regard.

We know Demon Dave has a thing for the macabre as was overwhelmingly evident before he started the Dark Force label, so licensing lesser known horror films is probably something he likes and also something realistic with Scream Factory taking most of the big stuff.

Maybe it wasnt intended to but the post came off trollish.
Thank you again Ruined. Your insight with Dark Force is quite impeccable. Much like if we were to have a guardian dark angel sent from the bottomless pit.

And I would like an update on the Clownhouse situation, if you’re reading this, Dark Force.
Did you read what "Bill" had to say above? If I hadn't seen the "Code Red DVD" attached to the post I would've assumed that was written by a 15 year old trying to draw attention. If this is the guy trying to release this film, there's no hope. Time to change your signature.

Asked in the code red thread, will try here too, any chance of adding any more of the cheaper sale titles from the code red cartel to your store? In particular would love to be able to order Joshua/Mr Mean and Quadroon

Also noticed earlier that the DF drive in 4 pack is being charged international shipping at $15, any reason for the difference in price for this title compared to ordering others?

Thanks

You sound like one of the middle aged, neurotic single women with cats, who hang around candle shops, talk about homeopathy and healing, and put Wiccan bumper stickers on their hatchback when you make posts like this.

Couldn't convince Best Buy to carry your stuff, huh? Well, don't feel too bad. BB sucks ass. Code Red didn't have much luck, either, even if the only CR DVD I ever saw there was The Dead Pit. You could try Barnes & Noble but they charge full MSRP. I wouldn't put it past them to actually charge more to cover their overhead. Nah, the future is online sales unless some visionary brings back awesome stores like Ken Cranes or Kim's Video.

On that second note, you might gain more customers if you expand your lineup to include titles OTHER people may enjoy as well. Do you enjoy slasher films? Don't limit yourself to just post-2000 DTV movies.

Somewhere, Ruined is blushing like a schoolgirl right about now, writing his appreciation speech to post later. I'm leaving this thread now. See you guys in a week or so.

Oh,and can we give it a rest with Clownhouse already. MGM doesn't license to indies. Yet.

But at B&N, the same movies would be $31.99, which had never been the MSRP and was just crazy.
They were great places to find OOP releases though. Pretty much the only reason to buy movies from them when the secondary prices actually went higher.

Backlot Murders is $16.99 again, but with their erratic pricing, who knows for how long.

Bill's morning BM after a Sbarros and Panda Express bender is still probably more interesting than The Backlot Murders.

Billy boy is giving DeFalco restoration tips and business advice - it's only fair Bill gets a shout out. But any "show" featuring a guy in a banana suit complaining would be free admission, right? We don't pay to watch Bill make a fool of himself here, why should anyone pay admission to watch him do it on a platform at the mall?

I ordered Just Before Dawn from Dark Force on July 9th and it showed up today in eastern Canada (all the way from West Hollywood)... totally insane, fastest I've ever received an order. Only $7.00 for international shipping... can't beat that!!

Going to order The Backlot Murders since it's back at $16.99.. also seriously thinking of picking up the 4 pack drive-in promotion they have going since I don't own any of those films on blu-ray yet.

The Dark Forces have officially taken over me.
