Beasts of No Nation
The Ritual
Geralds Game
Apostle
Eli
Looks like Netflix is upping the ante with this one. I read this book series, so am very much interested in this project.

If we are talking Netflix recommendations then 'Dark', for me, is up there with Breaking Bad, The Wire, and the first 4 seasons of Game of Thrones as one of the best shows of all time.

Mind. Blown.

The movie I was telling you guys about is now on VOD.
“The Painted Bird” is by far the most intense and disturbing WW2 drama ever made.
The images in this harrowing epic you will never be able to unsee , you have been warned.
It was excellent in my opinion I hope it gets a blu release soon .

Netflix is running a contest where you could win 83.3 years, or a 1000 months, of free service:

Netflix Offers a Free Subscription for 83 Years

https://www.pcmag.com/news/netflix-o...n-for-83-years

All you have to do to win is to play the video game The Old Guard and achieve the highest score. Contest is only open to U.S. residents, though.

Contest began last night at 8 PM Pacific time and it only runs for three days. Better hurry!

We even have an emoji for that:

I agree that Dark is a very entertaining show even if I would not praise it quite as highly as you have. I still need to watch season 3.

wasn't that always the case? does it matter if it is Netflix original, direct to DVD, direct to video ....

It is bad, the powers that be skip the theatres and go directly to the lower risk lower profit solution. It is harder to convince someone to spend the $$ to go to watch a film in theatres and if it bombs and word gets out it is terrible you poison the rental stream.

Two that are well done and out on media is Longmire AMC 3 seasons, Netflix 3 seasons, nicely concluded. That and BBC's “The Last Kingdom” three seasons on Netflix released to media, with a fourth season in the works. Interesting historical action/drama.

In 866, England is divided into the Heptarchy (seven kingdoms). The Vikings conquer York, and other Anglo-Saxon lands are gradually attacked, plundered and ruled by Viking Danes. Finally, only the Kingdom of Wessex is left. The story covers about 40–45 years by the end of season 4. Season 1 covers the years 866–878, season 2 from 878–886, season 3 from 893–900, and season 4 takes place about 901–910.

I do like stranger things and have the first two seasons on UHD BD, but I can’t think of any other good Netflix originals.

I loved Netflix but I cancelled them the day they announced Qwikster. Now, I have 2 friends who are happy to let me use their Netflix but I don’t bother. I don’t find it worthwhile even at no cost.

Already have The Last Kingdom in my watchlist, but decided to add Longmire. It is great to know that I can buy them on disc should I like them.

I always listen to the original cast audio; subtitles don't scare me. I have no interest in English dubbed tracks.

I added these to my watchlist:

3%

Kingdom

Elite

Erased

Green Frontier

I have already seen the first two seasons of Dark and I very much enjoyed the show; I need to watch season 3.

I started watching The Rain some time ago, but I lost interest in it and stopped.

The Rain is probably the weakest of my recs but the 3rd and final season comes out soon. And there's not much else to watch.

I still think the first 2 seasons or Narcos and also Money Heist are the best they've put out.

Elite is raunchy. The thought of you watching it makes me chuckle. But its a trashy guilty pleasure.

I don't mind some raunchy content now and again if it serves the the story well. The description just made it sound like a class warfare murder story.

I just found out that I may have been exposed to an infected person. I am to self isolate for 10 days.

I feel fine right now; hopefully I stay that way.

Just finished watching War of the Worlds (1953) in digital 4K (Dolby Vision). It looked and sounded great! I only paid $6.99 via iTunes. Now it's time to watch latest episode of Perry Mason on HBO MAX.

I will call my doctor on Monday, but anyone who gets tested is supposed to self isolate for 10 days regardless of the results as the test is not foolproof. My county health department states this, anyways.

I took a dumb chance on Friday night and a friend and I went to a local pizza place and dined in. It was the first time that I had been there since February. The staff all wore masks and tables were a minimum of six feet apart, but it was still a stupid risk to take.

Today, that restaurant emailed all of its reward member customers that an employee had tested positive on Saturday and that the restaurant would be closing for a minimum of 10 days during which time all employees will be tested.

If more employees test positive they will be closed for about a month. They had only recently reopened for dine-in service and they said that they were trying hard to run their business safely and to stay "afloat." Before they can reopen, if they reopen, they have to do an extra thorough job cleaning the place.

They notified their customers so that we could take the necessary precautions as well. I will be one angry ghost if I am done in by my craving for a pizza!
