Yep because Jan 1 is a holiday and it landed on a Sunday this year, so Jan 2nd is New Year's observed.

Wondering why I'm awake when I don't have to be, and also why they limit how many thumbs up you can give on here...

I love my job but fielding hundreds of "How was your New Year's?" questions from my tenants and countless visitors gets old FAST! And this will go on for days

Man just seen Ken Block passed away yesterday from a snowmobile accident. Already a terrible start to this new year.

Well, this time round (referring to my previous post) that was the longest amount of time in a few years that the BBC News channel stayed at the New York Times Square celebrations at the turn of midnight (about 6 minutes in total - the one minute countdown, all of (Theme from) New York, New York by Frank Sinatra (never tire of hearing it, but if I did my own rendition of it, it would start chucking it down outside (and I'm taking the mickey out of myself (one of the rules in life, always take the mickey out of yourself before someone else does) and a bit of a song which sounded familiar, but which I didn't know the title of or the artist.

Letting out the old year and letting/bringing in the new has been a tradition for me on New Year's Eve for many years now. The weather stayed dry (earlier on that day, plenty of steady rain) at midnight with the fireworks going off a few minutes early, but it's a unique atmosphere (like with Guy Fawkes Night/Bonfire Night).

Bus driver started accelerating as I was still removing my bicycle from the front rack. Imagine my surprise as twenty tons of machine pushed against my legs. It was only a few inches. Should have known something was up when he started raising the hydraulics again right after I stepped off. From now on, I will always remind them before I get off, even when it feels stupid.

Mother nature trying her damnedest to live up to the doom & gloom Global Warming predictions: flooding in CA(!) and temps more appropriate for the month of May in the Northeast. Mudslide dangers aside, California should be happy they're getting soaked. Aren't they, like, undergoing severe drought conditions? As for my neck of the woods, I regret removing my A/C and storing it cause I really need it.

Been having a cough and nothing else for the past few days. Figure it's probably time for a rare trip to the doctor. Might as well get a physical too and tell my new insurance case manager to make this guy my pcp.

This is the first time in a few years its been simple for me. Unemployment from being laid off from Covid and then some short term disability from health issues last year. A full year of work and no major health problems. Mentally it feels good. I pray it keeps up.

Oh man. I'm sorry you're going through that. I hope you are able to take care of that quickly. I cannot even imagine the pain.

I remember some people saying in the past that eating cheese late at night can cause you not to sleep very well or at all. Been eating anything which has cheese in it lately? I was going to add something else, but there is a Food sub-forum on here as well.

I find with the Thanks button system here, that sometimes they're like what they say about waiting for a bus: nothing for ages, then two come at once. You can have periods where you're getting a steady flow of Thanks added to posts you've made, then there are other times where you've put the effort into a post and get nothing. Yet some consistently get at least half a dozen Thanks for nearly every post they make (and some of those are for re-posted reviews).

Smile Focusing on the positives

One of the few positives I've had today (and this will be trivial to others, but to me it's something I look forward to around this time of year, and we need to focus on the positives to get through some days), was reading earlier that the current seasons of the One Chicago shows are starting here two weeks on Friday. My favourite part of the season are the episodes which were/are filmed in winter.
