1. There are two types of service you can use when you go into Kinko's and use their computers yourself. A 25 cent a minute service which gives you basic access to printing functions and a 40-45 cent a minute function that lets you use Photoshop for printing if you so choose. I would simply recommend bringing your covers into Kinko's in JPEG format and simply using the basic 25 cent a minute service. Both will get the job done in the same way.

2. You pay right at the PC with a credit or debit card. There will be a timer on the screen that shows how much time you've been on the PC and what your current charges are. It typically takes me 5 minutes or so to print off 10 covers. Which equates to $1.25 for the time usage. Beyond that it is 99 cents per page that you print. But, that is obviously, totally worth it when you consider the cost of ink cartridges for printing them at home.

3. First, you put in your credit card. You do not get charged until you have access to the PC, so the whole booting up and logging in process does not count toward your time.

4. Once you are at the desktop and ready to go, put your thumb drive in the PC. Open the thumb drive and folder containing your pictures. Whether you want to print just one picture or multiple pictures simply open one of the pictures you wish to print, you'll have the option to check or un-check certain ones later in the printing process. Once your picture is open choose the print option on the JPEG picture menu. This will bring you to the printer screen, which gives you the option to click "next" or something like that. Choose the advanced options when you see the button for it and make sure you have selected "landscape" for printing. This will ensure the picture comes out side to side like it should and not up and down.

5. Once that is done it should move you onto a section that lets you click if you want to print multiple pictures. Check the boxes for which pictures you want and un-check the ones that you don't want. At this point or after clicking "next" you should get some more picture options. Make sure you are printing to their color printer, which they will have labeled as the color printer near their computers. Also, make sure that the box labeled "fit picture to frame" is unchecked. Otherwise the image will print out too large and most likely not fit. Use paper size option "letter". Make sure that paper type is set to "sensed" or "auto" the printer will know what kind of paper you put in. I prefer semi-gloss, but you can certainly use whichever kind you think looks best. Their printers are awesome and thus, will do a good job regardless of which paper type you choose. Which paper to use simply comes down to which you like the look of most.

6. Finally, you should be using 8.5x11 paper, which is standard size paper. Put your paper into their color printer before you hit print. Once you've loaded your paper you may hit the print button. It usually takes a minute or two for the printer to warm up. So rest assured your pictures will print, but they typically don't come out for a minute or so. Once your pictures have come out you may log off the computer and it will spit your card back out at you. (You can certainly log off once you've told the PC to print your pictures, but I prefer to wait until they've actually come out so I can see that they all came out normal).

7. Lastly, I use their paper cutter to cut the covers. I also bring empty Blu-ray cases in so I can put them all in right away and make sure everything has printed out and been cut correctly.

I've never had anyone question what I was doing or tell me I couldn't. As long as you're off in your own world and not asking them questions about potential copyrighted material, they don't care.

Keep in mind, most Kinko's are probably the same, but obviously, they may vary a little bit. However, all my steps should be basically the same Nationwide.
Very cool thanks for the detailed instructions. I also assume that based on how the image was formatted (for thinner cases, multi-packs and such), the image should print the same way as well.

any chance someone could do one for GRINDHOUSE for me? If you can (or have), it would be much appreciated

I kind of like the simplicity of this, but can't seem to find a higher res picture:

I will be using the standard size case from Planet Terror since it holds two discs.

I did a search ... but didn't seem to find anything and saw no link to either movie or a combo in the first page's breakdown.

Yes, the image will print exactly how it's supposed to if you follow those instructions.

Default JAMES BOND Blu-ray Set Volumes 1 - 4

I've whipped up 4 covers for 6-disc 25mm spine blu-ray cases. They will hopefully be available at Replace the Case by the weekend.

Volume 1 is Dr. No through You Only Live Twice.

Volume 2 is On Her Majesty's Secret Service through Moonraker.

Volume 3 is For Your Eyes Only through Licence to Kill.

Volume 4 is Goldeneye through Quantum of Solace.

Yes, I have included the original Casino Royale and Never Say Never Again in their correct chronological release line-up. There will be no version of this set omitting them... so don't ask.

And yes, I realize there is no space for disc 2 of the newer Casino Royale release, or for disc 2 of the eventual 2-disc release of Quantum of Solace. I plan to shove those discs somewhere, along with whatever exclusive DVD content I'll have to keep from Die Another day, and some store-exclusive release, etc. Perhaps I'll make a generic, but similarly designed case as a catch-all for those orphan discs. I'm just not sure yet what the plan is...

Canada bpmford Design - I'm back

Good day all lovers of custom cover work!

I haven't been in here since the end of last year ... I took a leave of absence to try to regroup and get back to custom covers. I have been busy over this time, just reluctant to post here with recent issues.

I hope that some recent problems can be behind everyone, and this thread can maintain it's positive activity as of late.

I have been asked to not restrict my covers to trusted members, but I don't see any options with the public orientation of this site. It has worked on the other sites I regular, so I would like to keep it that way. There are a large amount of members that have earned respect here and it's due to regular contribution to the site, whether by posting and giving advise or by contributing work. The details of this is that the member should be someone who I know or a member with a membership older than 6 months.

I understand this thread's purpose of the sharing of ideas and covers on an amateur level; so I see the reason for certain rules put forth with regards to posting work. I enjoy posting work here and getting feedback and support for a hobby that I put a lot of heart into, however I still see the need to protect my work from others that feel they have rights to free covers, and I hope my effort in doing so is respected.

This site is one of the better free sites for the technology industry, and the only that focuses on Blu-ray. Within here is a great custom cover thread that features the likes of some great artists.

I apologize for past actions and comments that have been negative toward others, and understand the rules established and will continue on respectfully.

...

With all that being said, I would like to get back to creating covers and posting on this site, especially this thread...

So, after a long-winded letter, I would like to preview my newest work.

bpmford Design - Custom Covers

The Hurt Locker

Moon

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Up in the Air

Enjoy all!

Thanks again for listening to me rant!

The covers look amazing. Jake Gyllenhaal with long hair on the other hand, just plain weird.

long thread, awesome work =).

dunno if people have suggested this already, but if som1 created custom cover or maybe just scan original work for all the Criterion releases that didn't come w/clear plastic case, people can buy their own cases and simply insert these covers in (just my 2cents):

THE THIRD MAN

THE LAST EMPEROR

THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH

BOTTLE ROCKET

CHUNGKING EXPRESS

THE 400 BLOWS

THE LAST METRO

EL NORTE

LAST YEAR AT MARIENBAD

thanks =)

Do you mean to be put into the clear Criterion cases, or standard Blus?
