You can't honestly say it still has the same aurora that it once did,it's not the same competition as it once was.

I can...and I'am.

Sour grapes perhaps? I mean no silverware this season, coupled with the fact that there won't be any European Football at OT next season for the first time in over 20 years, which I might add is likely to cost the club somewhere in the region of £30 million.

The FA Cup has never, and will never lose it's Magic. It has always been and will always be the Greatest Cup Competition in the world.

Definitely not sour grapes,as I have mentioned before,I have supported Utd since 1985 and remember bad times,we have won more trophies since then than I ever thought I would see in my lifetime, without a doubt!
And if we weren't going to make the CL then I didn't want us in the EL.

Yeah around a 30 mill hit.....Utd have said it won't be an issue as they have struck a new TV and shirt deal so it cushions the blow, record profits announced again only last week.

As for the F.A. Cup not losing it's magic.....you couldn't be more wrong.....the F.A. allowing Utd to go to Brazil for a few matches was only the start, playing it before the end of the league campaign was another mistake, chopping and changing dates and kick off times haven't helped and the fact that the PL and CL have so much importance now just make the trophy not what it once was.

Do I wish it was still the same?of course I do,I grew up loving the cup....it used to start as I am sure you remember on BBC1 at 9am and go through until about half five, the excitement was fantastic, the build up and all,it used to be a super occasion.....it just doesn't have that now and in fact of all the football supporters I know, which is a lot,you are the only one that still think's it's the same.

I agree the F.A cup when i was younger would go on all day with the build up to the final at its normal time of 3pm which i miss.
But the cup was important to arsenal this season because we failed in the league and in Europe and the cup was our last chance of winning a trophy.
Arsene wenger has respect for the F.A cup but even he said it is 3rd on his list behind the premier league and the champions league.
Champions league is important today wes that is mordern football but i respect your passion for the f.a cup.

Of course it was important for Arsenal....in fact I would near say critical!
It was massive for Hull too and it it still a good trophy to win but as you say,it is well down the pecking order of what is important in the game nowadays....that's a fact!

Yip,they should bring back the 3pm K.O also.....it has been better the last couple of years but like I said,it's still not what it used to be and the F.A. have to take most of the blame for that.

You are just thinking inside your box David. Outside of the 'big 4' the cups still hold their magic. Try telling 40,000 sunderland fans singing the night away in Covent Garden that the cup has lost its magic, and that was the league cup!

For smaller clubs it still has the magic but for the bigger clubs the European Cup is the competition to win. The money the clubs get from the European Cup is unreal.

I'd take right now knocked out in third round of FA Cup for a good CL run next season.

Small club? How very dare you?

We had the biggest attendance in the premier last game of season and that includes your boys!

Sunderland isn't the biggest club in the North East for me Newcastle is the bigger club, Don't know if Villiam or Tob think the same?

Yes of course any supporters heading to London for a final will be singing and enjoying the occasion, that's what I would expect, still doesn't take away from the fact the competition ain't what it used to be,for the reason's I have mentioned.

I personally know supporters of clubs like West Ham,Derby,Forest, etc who would all take Premier League survival over the cup,now I am sure there are some who think differently but you get my point.

Your in that group and that's great,we'll have to agree to disagree.

I say Newcastle and Sunderland are on the same level in the north east and Sunderland had the better record in the last few seasons in the derby.

Yeah,we should have went with someone who has won trophies before last season,he'll not be there long term but I am confident he will turn things round.

My only issue is that RvP is rumoured to be picked as his next captain,I think Rooney should have got it,that and now van Persie will be staying we're back to the issue where Mata plays but yeah, overall, good choice.

Yes LvG has had alot of success, virtually all of it in his native Holland with Ajax.

Personally, I don't see him lasting long at OT. There's been alot of talk about his coaching methods, etc among other things, and I can see it being another season of doom and gloom.

The Old Dog Fergie was the only one who had a Magic Wand round those parts.
