Nice! I just sold a URC MX-980 remote and MRF-350 RFS base station. Both were brand new. I was gifted them years ago for helping someone unbrick one of their URC remotes. At home I have a Pronto based system. I used to beta test for Philips prior to them getting out of the remote control market. I've got a TSU9600 remote in each zone. They talk to RFX9600 extenders (IR/RS-232/Relay/Power Sensing) over my Wi-fi network, the extenders using ethernet. I control my 15 Sony BDP-CX7000ES Blu-ray players and a Sony BDP-S5000ES Blu-ray player using RS-232. I've got a single RS-232 run going from a RFX9600 to a Digital Loggers SS20 20-port Serial Switch. Use of the switch provides for controlling all my Sony Blu-ray players independently or collectively via a single set of RS-232 commands. (To learn more about my setup see here.) In any event, not ready to make the jump to UHD yet, but when the time comes sticking with a Sony UHD player with RS-232 support will certainly be the way to go.

I would never rely on built in smart tv apps for my entertainment.

With luck you’ll find something better to watch then Deep Blue Sea 3 also.

I love bad shark movies and the cast is attractive but that’s 2 stars at best. Recommended only if intoxicated. (Otherwise you will start thinking of what you could be doing instead of watching it)

I haven’t seen irresistible so I guess that’s false advertising.

A good friend bought the S7000 mostly for its amazing CD playback.

For all it’s awesome build quality it didn’t support progressive scan with DVD so became somewhat obsolete in regard to video.

You are correct, that is the second time I have made this mistake about that model number.

The MX-980 is my remote of choice, have 4 and program them myself. Have a MX-5000 but have not done much with it. Also have/had iRule, Rommie, The Home Remote and others with a Global Caché GC-100-12 but I find the MX-980 much easier to use in a dark front projection home theater.

Really hated to see the Pronto’s leave the market. URC needs a good competitor in the DIY remote market.

WOW, that is some setup you have there.

I am in the process of exploring adding Zappiti to my system. As noted earlier I will procure one of their players if a model comes out using the new Realtek chip set. Looking into if I want to get their NAS or do my own using a Synology 8 bay with 16TB HDD’s.

DVD (NTSC) is 480i on the disc so the quality will depend on the internal or external video processors. If one had a interlaced only display then no need for a progressive signal.

In my ongoing effort to support TV shows on blu-ray, I bought seasons 1-3 of Young Sheldon the spin-off series to The Big Bang Theory.

I also bought Mr. Robot The Complete Series; I decided to act on gotmule's recommendation.

Hey gang, hope all is well with everyone. I’m still without internet and doing the 2 discs plan with Netflix. I’m currently dating someone who hasn’t seen a lot of movies. Right now she wants to watch the Marvel stuff, but I can’t afford to replace all of the movies I left with my son to do a proper marathon. If I had internet streaming all I’d have to do is have them send me Iron Man and the last Avengers and Spider-Man movie.

Other than your physical preference, why not I actually preferred my tv’s app over ones that came with either my BD player or gaming console.

Because you are at the mercy of the manufacturers whether that app is updated or not. Also, they seem awfully buggy with resets necessary a lot of the time. Then, you have the problem that older TVs don’t support the latest apps from the like of Netflix etc.. Forced obsoletion Stinks.

Yes!!!!! I have the final 3 episodes left, and should finish it this weekend. First season has its bumps in the road at times, but the payoff is definitely worth it.

Yes you have to have a good TV Manufacturer like Sony with Android Apps that are kept updated. I think the Apps work great, I can go with my Remote from IPTV to any Streaming Provider except Apple....With Outstanding Quality!

Why not Apple? I thought they had a app that had opened up to other tv manufacturers?

I thought the iTunes 1080p downloads looked like utter garbage. Are their streams any better? I might get a Roku Ultra to stream iTunes if the streams are any better. I can't get the Apple TV app on my Xbox One S yet. I keep thinking Blu-ray is on its last leg and want to make the transition to digital. I love VUDU. But the quality is just not the same.

I plan to keep my Netflix disc by mail till they end the service or I can no longer benefit from it (them birthdays are really adding up).

If your set does not have eARC then immersive audio could be a problem. What about builtin apps ability to do original frame rates? STB's from Roku Ultra will not do original frame rates from Netflix (nor Dolby Atmos), Nvidia Shield Pro has to use an app to switch frame rates but you have to manually select 25 for 25 fps content. The current Apple TV does not do 24 fps correctly.

I suspect most TV's builtin apps use 60 3:2 pulldown or a variant thereof. Add in motion interpolation and most folks will never see the effects of dropped frames.
