I don't know. I'm not really interested in that one. The only Kaiju films that I'm into is Godzilla, 90's - '06 Gamera, and Mothra.

Unfortunately, I've only seen the first half of Half Human. By the midway point my DVD of it started to skip quite severely. The copy I had was the Japanese cut and, from what I remember of it, it was quite good.

On another note, the reviews for War of the Gargantuas are starting to roll in and they're very positive. It seems that Toho used a new transfer / master for the BD. That news couldn't make me happier.

Where are you reading reviews?

I would hope Toho used a new transfer like they did with their other BD releases.

Toho should be revealing wave 5 anytime now.

Classic Media used the same source from the Toho DVD for the Japanese version of War of the Gargantuas and it looked horrible in comparison to the US edit.

I can confirm that the transfer for WotG is absolutely fantastic... far and away Toho's best kaiju bluray release to date. There's definitely DNR, but it's barely noticible in comparison to the Mothra bluray. Here's hoping that Frankenstein vs. Barugon gets a similar level of treatment.

The Heisei movies are basically on the same level as the previous releases of G84, G vs Biollante, and G vs King Ghidorah... it's basically like watching the same movie in terms of transfer quality, for the most part.

My eyes may be playing tricks on me, but I think G vs Destroyah used less DNR, as it seems a little grainier and sharper throughout (I'm also seeing a lot more wires on the monster suits).

One more note... Toho's menu's are all just ridiculously bad. :lol: I can't believe they actually paid someone to put that crap together.

Did you happen to record it on CBC? I watched it when it aired a month or two ago, but in SD (no CBC HD in the U.S. ). They occasionally show good monster movies in the middle of the night.

I prefer the English version of War of the Gargantuas. It's 92 minutes whereas the Japanese version is 87 minutes. Any HD sources of the film are probably the same ones from the defunct MonstersHD channel where it's cropped to 1.78 from 2.35.

I always really liked the menus they did for the R2 DVD's, but these just don't do it for me at all. The still menus especially irk me.

I'm watching Gargantuas right now. I agree with you that this is the best looking TOHO release so far. Especially the close up shots of the monsters... amazingly detailed.

I might be getting a little paranoid here, but where's the new announcements for May? The booklet that came with these was the same as the last wave, covering only releases up to March.
