Beautifull result leeb25 . Did you use a special glue to put the spine back on the Steel? I would love to do this, particularly on my "Inglourious Basterds" Steel since as you can see on the following picture a big part of Brad Pitt's face is missing ... but I'm still a little bit scary from removing the spine .

Moreover you have to be sure that you won't change your mind about the inside artwork (especially when coming to this thread and seeing the great pictures some of your guys are using ).

I personally think those pics don't look that good where the spine of the Steelbooks goes in the middle of a head of a person, especially like in that Hancock one (also the Tropic Thunder). I think Hancock would look much better if you moved Will's face entirely to either side of the spine.

But it doesn't seem to matter really with most of objects and I think Minority Report looks awesome even though the neck is cut hehe.

Dont be scared, honestly its easy just get a card that is flat and slowly saw downwards so its raises up slowly or else you will bend it. Once you have it off you can just push your artwork on as the glue will still be sticky enough to attatch the paper to the plastic and the spine will still have glue on so you just push that back ontop of the artwork. once you have done that just press the spine up against a wall really hard for 5-10 mins to make sure it stays stuck down.. if not just add a bit of your own glue.

Lee.

Thanks Lee for all the details, so I followed your advice ... and here is the result on "Inglourious Basterds":

and you are right, it's not a big deal to remove the spine and put it back ... moreover mine wasn't well aligned, so it's fixed now . I will do some others when I will have enough time . Thanks again Lee .

Here are the new ones on which I did the "spine work" :

My advice if you want to do the spine ... completely remove the glue they used, especially on the translucid part on which you will put your artwork .

Cheers.
Steph.

That's more like it. Artwork on the spine makes all the difference.

Thanks guys ..

I removed the spine with a thin card (as leeb25 told me in a previous post) ... and to completely remove the glue was a hard job . A part of the glue can be removed easily with the finger .. but you have always some left on the plastic spine (translucid part) and then I used alcool to remove it .

It could be a good idea indeed ... but no, I did this with my glue because it was a stick and not liquid glue (which would have been better ).

I used my own glue (a stick as told just above), putted it in hot water, and then applied on the spine, spreading it with my finger. The glue I chose is usually for paper, but it's enough for this kind of job ... moreover I wanted to be sure that if I have to remove the spine one more time, it would leave the plastic mint .

Yes, but you did some very good work there and as most people fear taking of the spine (including me ) it's hard to get it as good as you did.
