Wait, let me get this straight.

Clash Of The Titans is a poorly converted 3D movie and the reviews say so. Yet, it's still being pressed ahead as a 3D Blu Ray?

.....Personally, I like 3D, but if it means stuff like this, then 3D does need to start dissapating into nothing, or just dissapering from public view.

I didn't see any official announcement for this. I was hoping that before they released this they would improve on the 3D. But since it's coming so soon that's doubtful.

Hopefully they will fix up Airbender before releasing it. I'm one of the few people that kind of enjoyed that as a movie. Even with the sometimes terrible acting. Clash Of The Titans kind of sucked all the way around. There was a couple of fun scenes, but that was about it.

Edit: Wait, this does not look like a blu-ray 3D title. It does not have the logo on the box. It must be just the red and blue glasses type. If this is the case I'll be skipping it for sure.

I'm fine with 3-D conversions, if they are done well. Alice in Wonderland was done well for 90% of the film...Alice was conceived as a 3-D project, and all digtal effects were completed/composited in 3D anyways...so it was kind of a hybrid. Clash of the Titans was awful, no buts about it. If you want to see something impressive, ask a Best Buy employee to put the Sony 3D demo disc in the Panasonic Blu-ray player and VT25 series. Then have them put on Alice in Wonderland. It's the best 3D clip I've seen outside of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs...especially if the salesmen knows what setting to put the TV on.

Early VT25 have a color decoding error in 3D where the Blue channel is set way too high. Since you can adjust the Blue back out by taking it to -25 in the settings this results in a more natural skin tone. It'll blow you away.

I can tell you that this is an "official" 3D blu ray version. I got my copy about a week ago and it has two discs inside the box--one for the 2D version, the other for the 3D. I tried it immediately and even the screen prior to the menu is in 3D(it prompts you to put on your glasses straightaway).

Blu-Ray.com posted its review which is even more negative then highdefdigests. Frankly Im glad this hasn't gotten a US 3D release. With 3D movies so scarce it would be sad if anyone bought saw this in 3D (particuarly among the anti-animation snobs) and thought the poor conversion was all 3D Blu-Ray can do. Similar to how the poor quality on many of the first Blu-Rays in 2006 (when the format was only made up of MPEG-2 BD-25s) likely lengthed the format war. I prefer 2D over poorly done conversions. Which is why I find the whole realtime 2D to 3D conversion to be a unessesary silly feature.

It's funny how people forget about that stuff now.

Anyways, I completely agree. I picked up a German copy of Clash and I'm glad it's not representing 3-D in the states. I think people are just giving it a pass because they're starving. If it came out in a market with options, people'd see it for the what it really is. A bad 3-D conversion that's "better than nothing" for those who're in desperate need of a fix.

If this is the shame shoddy conversion from the German 3D Blu-Ray I think it won't be worth it

Clash of the Titans got the worst reviews of all time for a 3D conversion, however, with the Polar Express and a few other movies coming out on the 16th of november it is at least a step in the right direction with regards to the exclusive deals. I'm excited!

I can't imagine any hardware manufactorur would bid for Clash of the Titans exclusivity. They would want something that can show off there hardware for all its worth. Clash of the Titans underrepresents there equitment.

You're totally missing the point brother. We all know it's a bad conversion. But, like I said, it's a step in the right direction, especially with the other 6 3D movies being released that very same day.

Quote:
Alleviating the scarcity of 3D Blu-ray titles at retail, Warner Home Video has announced that on November 16 it will release six 3D BDs unfettered by exclusive hardware bundles: Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore (WHV's first 3D day-and-date title), Clash of the Titans, The Polar Express, and the IMAX documentaries Deep Sea (previously Sony-exclusive), Space Station (previously bundled with LG hardware overseas) and Under the Sea (previously LG-exclusive).

"This is an exciting time in the industry and we are thrilled to be a part of this evolution in home entertainment," said Dorinda Marticorena, SVP of worldwide marketing and high-def. "As sales of Blu-ray 3D hardware increase during the holidays, we wanted to ensure that consumers have access to a diverse selection of 3D content, not attached to an exclusive bundle, which will showcase the amazing possibilities of this brilliant new format – and this is just the beginning.

All these 3D Blu-ray releases will include 2D BD versions of the films. Clash and Cats & Dogs 2 will come in BD/DVD/Digital Copy combo packs. The latter will include as a bonus "Coyote Falls," a new Looney Tunes short - animated in 3D.

Suggested retail price is $44.95 for each BD.

It all depends on the system in which you watch it. We have won best 3D at CEDIA playing the medusa and kraken chapters plus scenes from under the sea. The Potato Cod was the superstar of the CEDIA show.

Default Is Clash of the Titans worth $16.99?

Does that low price make this film a must get? The reviews of this film have not been kind but at that price, is it a good buy? Does the film have any 3D value at all?

Dog if u enjoyed the movie and are a fan then yes.. if u only want it for 3D purposes i would pass.. i will never watch that crap in 3D again.. it did nothing in the experience for me in 3D.. i rather watch in 2D and save my battery life on my glasses

just my opinion

In my honest opinion, I think 17 dollars is still too much for this title. I remember going to the theaters to watch this, the use of 3D seemed almost nonexistent to me. There's definitely MUCH better 3D content out there for your buck!

I really enjoyed this movie for the movie itself, the 3D in the theaters was not as good as the 3D on the Bluray at least I thought it was more evident at home. But like said above if you like the film then the price is great for a 3D copy of it but if your looking for 3D experience there better films to get it in.
